    Default Welterweight Lineal Champion?

Who is it and how? Is it on the line between Pac and PBF?

I just realize it is Mayweather. Pefect! This could be Pacs 5th Lineal title.

There no lineal. Floyd gave it up when he retired. It was said Shane was when Floyd beat him but not really.

Miguel Cotto is the "lineal" middleweight champion.

That tells you all you need to know about the strength of that term.

I think the last time it officially changed hands was when Floyd beat Baldomir right? Zab Judah was the lineal champ for a little bit before losing to that plodder.

Floyd is the real welterweight champion.

You are correct! I don't know what the other guys are talking about.

It all depends on where you think Mayweather should have been rated after his return and subsequent victory over Marquez.

Mosley had defeated Margarito who had to have been considered #1 after beating Cotto. Did Mosley take over the top spot?

Pacquiao had defeated Cotto and Clottey, but Mayweather pretty much put on a clinic against the guy who had given Pacquiao so much trouble.

For me Mayweather returned at #1, Mosley moved to #2 with Pacquaio at #3. Hence the top two guys fighting to fill the vacant championship.

Both guys would have to be considered the two best in the division at this time so their fight in May should qualify for the championship if you do not agree with the above.
