    Default Pacquiao/Diaz

I will preface this post by stating that I think Joe Calzaghe is the greatest fighter of all time. The speed, the chin, the output, the desire to win. He was exceptional.

I watched Pacquaio against Diaz the other day and was pleasantly surprised to see Manny as an all round fighter. He could throw a hundred punches a round, throw from all angles, throw punches as though auditioning for a ballet performance. It was beautiful and I felt a real sadness for David Diaz who admitted in his corner that he couldn't deal with the speed.

Calzaghe was the best fighter in the world at that time and suddenly Manny was fighting like Joe Calzaghe. It was a different Manny. It also made me think a lot about Calzaghe/Hopkins due to this weekends fight. The smaller man against the bigger man. The so called technician against the high output fighter. Both at the end of their careers.

In some strange way, Manny is a reflection of the all time great Joe Calzaghe. By following the Calzaghe blueprints, Manny can beat Floyd Mayweather.

    Thank you, Eric.

It was almost as if Roach suddenly saw the light via the beauty of Joe Calzaghe. You can be as fast as anything and throw as many punches as you like and the accumulation will shock and awe. It was that way for a long while against bigger fighters, then Manny slowed a little. Let's hope that there is one last push towards the finish line.

So you want Manny to win on the strength of being rewarded for missed punches?

Hop/Calzaghe is debatable. Not very but still debatable. Whoever wins I want it decisive. I don't want any freak occurrences deciding it so no clash of heads leading to a cut or swelling, no broken hands, nothing out of the ordinary. I want a 116-112 type score or wider so nobody can claim the judges rewarded either fighter. An end to the nonsense one way or the other and the icing on top would be to finally get some truth from Arum and Roach because all the lies are disgusting.

No, that wasn't debatable. Calzaghe easily beat the spoiler. I expect the same blueprint. I don't care about lies. I care about performance.

Yes, Floyd is different, but he is also a stupid, egotistical, old man. It seldom goes far.

That was a Manny that went on that incredible run of victories. Manny needs to dig deep and find that form. However that was many years ago and since then Manny has been knocked out cold.

Pacquiao vs Diaz fight really surprised me with Manny. My perception with Pac before that is an awkward hard hitting southpaw who couldn't throw a decent right hook. Turns out he was actually smooth if against a southpaw. Tells you how important are angles and positioning in boxing.
