Lets not write the old old dog off just yet.

I suspect this will be at a catch weight of some sort that really favors Bernard.

Winky Wright and Kelly Pavlik took the bait and it did not end well for them.

Love Hopkins and like GGG a lot as well so this one would be very interesting.

Hopkins would get stopped. No doubt in my mind he think he has the plan to beat GGG but at the same time, he must be high off the smell of his own arse if he thinks he can execute it.

I have to say I really hope this fight doesn't happen! it doesn't matter that Hopkins is a great fighter and is a lot heavier, all this does is give GGG haters a massive reason to slate him even more. And to a degree, you can't blame them, after all , last time he fought he started to look like the 50 year old he is.
GGG has nothing to gain from this except marking time and making money. All I would say, is that if this fight happened, you have to give Hopkins massive respect for taking the fight , just like when he took the Kovalev fight.
Either that, or he's just plain fucking crazy!

Sir, you are talking like you think Hopkins is being forced into the fight. I do not believe Hopkins would take the fight if he didn't think he could win.

I'm not saying Hopkins is going to win. I'm saying GGG should be as well prepared as possible because Hopkins is a very serious dude and very smart about boxing.

I don't know why people are writing Hopkins off in this one.

Are we forgetting that he has a LONG history of making big punchers look bad?

Are we forgetting that he is a 175lber, and GGG is 160?

The weight advantage for Hopkins nullifies some of the power of Golovkin and the angles and shoulders should take the edge off some of the rest. The issue is whether or not Hopkins can really wear him down. Kopkins level of activity has dropped over the years and he will have to hold and smother Golovkin a lot and lean on him. Even then You have to wonder if GGG finishes the fight swinging and on his feet, if they will let him lose barring any knockdowns of KO's. Boxing stands to gain more from an attraction like Golovkin who would beat a guy bigger and with a records like Hopkins that it would from a fading legend in his last fight with a much smaller opponent. The idea that theres no shame in GGG losing to a bigger legend like Hopkins does little to reverse the trend (in my mind anyway) of all these primadonnas nursing their "0" in the losses column to being overpaid and underworked in the ring now.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Sir, I am not saying that Hopkins is forced into the fight, nor am I saying that he necessarily gets hammered or even beat. My point was that it's a Lose-lose for GGG.
it's not a fight I would like to see , because it has a touch of the Circus show about it , with the age, weight and height differences.
And finally, although I'm not saying Hopkins is forced into the fight, if he genuinely is to fight again, Who would he fight that generates this kind of interest or money? At 50, he quite rightly would only fight if it was worth his while . The only other option would've been Froch, who wasn't interested and retired. Oddly enough, I think Hopkins would've beaten Froch, but we'll never know.

Hopkins is as dangerous as a back alley Tunisian knife fighter.
