Landing 35% of them. Plenty of 39 year old Champions still threw punches in bunches and fought their ass off to try to hold on to their title

Only 30?
Marciano's punch stats will be posted by me on this website in a couple of days because now I am going to go back and start with the first Walcott fighting and then the two Ezzard Charles fights and then the starza fight the cockle fight in the Archie Moore fight I will post punches thrown and punches landed I will not separate power punches from jabs. The war is on. I am sure Marciano threw an average of 60 punches per round for all six of his title defenses after knocking out Walcott for the title
You go right ahead. I've already done it myself and in the Walcott fight Marciano only broke 40 twice. Rounds 6 and 10. In round 13 he threw about 5. And again that's thrown not landed. He did hit the 100 mark once against Charles in round 15 and once more against Moore.
In the Moore fight he thew about 60 punches a round until it ended. In both rounds 4 and 6 he was on or near 100. I counted everything and gave him the benefit of doubt like compubox would.
In that fight he averaged out at about 60 a round. I had him pegged at about 80 in the final round and that was only at just over a minute in before the stoppage so he could have broke a 100 had Moore made it to the bell.
And just for the record you posted about Walcott 1 specifically and my response was what he did in THAT fight. You will be looking long and hard for the second Charles fight as it does not exist save a few rounds and even the first fight is sped up and flawed.
well that's a rich one. That's a real good one there bro. That's because 5th punch he threw knocked walcott back into the last century. I don't think he needed to throw any more after that do you?
I think you may have your centuries mixed up

I agree with you that the first Walcott fight he threw about 30 punches per round. And it seems you agree with me that many of his other fights that we have videos of he did average about 60 punches per round. My original point I feel still shows that the heavyweight great of the past threw far more punches then gladimir Klitschko does/ did
Not sure that’s true and the devil is in the details. Wlad is a poor example for comparison because the majority of his punches per round in every fight were jabs. This was easy to accomplish when most of his opponents provided for its use. Fury whose numbers were also pathetic took that punch away from him starting with his height and Wlad for the first time having to jab straight across and even a tad upward. Fury put a nail in this by shifting and moving his head and not just standing there like a fence post.Wlads reluctance to throw that right hand over the years hit the celling in that fight. Did he even throw 1? Wlad had no plan B and nor did he ever think he'd need one. And who trains on memory foam? Is that designed to make feet faster when there is no resistance? Yeah for 20 year olds. You start doing this in your late 30's and you will lose your legs at fight time.
Another thing you have to factor in is that Marciano was fighting guys years out of their prime or not on the same level. And yes he ko'd Walcott but he also got his lights punched out for the majority of the first 12 rounds.
I think we will see a different Wlad in the rematch and you know, sometimes things just don’t gel in a fight. A classic NO production fight for me is Briggs/White Poodle errrr Wolf. Sergei threw about 10 punches the entire fight and yet when he fought Friday Ahunanya he threw close to 120 in the tenth round.
This might not make any sense but we can’t overlook the masterful performance Fury put on to take away all those advantages Wlad has had for over a decade against other opponents. He took his jab and took his grab away, looked at him straight in the eye during the fight, moved and pot shotted and almost seemed to have the fight in the bag mentally before the opening bell. Vitali is probably training his brother right now in an old East German prison.
Overall I'd imagine the numbers would favour the old guard but these guys were light heavyweights really and punch numbers for the most part increase as you drop in weight class. Margarito actually has the record for most punches thrown over a fight with 1675 against Clottey followed by Zack Padilla
with 1596 against Olivera which 1290 were power shots. Its rare to see anything close to those numbers with the big men but not unheard of. A few Hevs have broken the 1000 barrier.
