Default Is Peter Manfredo Jr big enough for Super Middleweight?

My answer is no but I have to admit that I do not know much about him as an European, but I think he would came out short against the likes of Kessler, Calzaghe etc alone on size.

    What do you think?

Scott Pemberton, that poor soul - he is used to hype no talented boxers as Lacy and Manfredo. Boy, could you image Kessler against Manfredo? I really look forward to your answer.....

Ask Scott "didn't throw one meaningful punch" Pemberton.. Or another one of the absolute bums he has defeated. Is he good enough for any real contender in any division.. Is the real question. People get all excited and think he's great because Freddie Roach is now with him.. It's not like Trainers don't make money people, Manny Steward said he would love to train NAs again.. Wonder why?

Pemberton was so bad, i honestly thought that he took a dive.
The way he got knocked down by that overhand right and it barely touched him (i dont think it did).

NO, he is not big enough for super middle. He is only 5'9", and at one point in his career he had said that he did not like fighting guys over 6' so he wanted to stay at a lower weight.
Trainers like Roach dont just take on everybody that can give them money. They are selective with who they do or dont work with. With this in mind I would think that Roach sees some potential in him or why bother with him. People get excited because Roach is one of the better trainers around, so the only thing he could do with Manfredo is make him better.

I WAS THE ONE THAT STATED THAT MANFREDO WALKS AROUND AT 180. I LIVE IN PROVIDENCE. SEE HIM ALL THE TIME. HE ACTUALLY LIVES IN JOHNSTON, THOUGH. ANYWAY. I HAVE FOLLOWED HIS CAREER FROM THE BEGINING. HIS FATHER WAS A WORLD CLASS KICKBOXER AND LICENCED BOXING TRAINER... HE GREW UP IN THE GYM. HE WAS UNDEFEATED BEFORE HE WENT ON THE CONTENDER. HE WAS USED TO FIGHTING 10 AND 12 ROUND BOUTS AND HAD TO DROP TO 4/6 ROUNDS... TOTALLY DIFFERENT PACE HE HAD T CLIMATIZE HIMSELF TO. HE WAS REALLY THE ONLY WOLD CLASS BOXER ON THE SHEW... HE WAS RANKED 22ND AT MIDDLEWEIGHT WHEN HE WENT IN TO THE SHOW... HE DEFINITLY RAN OUT OF GAS AGAINST MORA AND I DONT KNOW WHERE THAT CAME FROM CUZ HE IS A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THEN HIM. WE SAW MORA GET A BOXING LESSON IN THE SECOND FIGHT(NOMATTER HOW MARK BERNETTE SCRIPTED IT.) PEMBERTON WAS DAMAGED GOODS AFTER THE TWO WARS WITH SHIEKA, GRANTED BUT WITH HIS IBF#14 AND WBC#15 RANK HE WILL BE FIGHTING QUALITY OPPOSITION SOON ENOUGH SO WE'LL SEE GENTLEMEN. AND AS FAR AS FREDDIE ROACH IS CONCERNED. LOOK AT MORA MANFREDO 1 AND THEN II AND U TELL ME IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

Lacy is a talented boxer...he blasted out everyone that he faced until he got in with the best in the world...being a Lacy, Calzaghe, & Kessler fan...I can honestly say that #1: Kessler would probably suffer the same fate as Lacy...& #2: You need to broaden your horizons.

I mean...I like Kessler myself...but he aint the second coming.

Manfredo is decent but he has too small of a build for supermiddle.

Probably not big enough to take on the likes of Kessler and Lacy but I think he could be a handful at 160lbs. He's durable and clearly has a good chin but he seems to get hit too easily and his workrate drops, at least it did in the Contender.

I know the Contender was heavily scripted and edited so it was difficult to tell for sure but he seemed to lose to Alfonso the first time, scraped through by the narrowest of margins against Miguel Espino in the next round, scrape past Joey Gilbert just, scrape past Alfonso in a rematch then get beat easily by Mora in their first fight.

Credit to him he looked 100 times better in the rematch and should have got the decision, although I felt it was very close, especially after watching it a second time, but he looked great against Pemberton.

I think he has talent, just seems a bit inconsistent. I would worry if he was in with an awkward fighter he could get easily thrown off his gameplan and not know what to do, like Lacy against Calzaghe or Manfredo himself in the first Mora fight.

I like him a lot though. As a person I think he is one of the nicest, humblest people in boxing and it's nice to see he is a young devoted father as well. Plus his wife is hot!

I hope he does well at whatever weight he finally settles for.
