If you can find the Don King "Only in America" biography, it says a lot of stuff about him extending lines of credit and deducting bogus expenses from fighters' pay (he's a loanshark and numbers man by training). He also indirectly controls the management of a lot of fighters he promotes.

Don King is a master manipulator...tyson, holmes you name them and he broke them.....Give them good money up front but taking bigger cuts later in the career.....when it's time for them to make real money King's contracts seem to kick in.....Manager/Promoter he gets to double dip....this will continue until those who are currently retarded wise up and quit biting at the early money and possible "title" shots......fighters need to get lawyers to explain what king is proposing to them..if they can understad King...only in America...

I knew two fighters who were under contract to Don King, Tim Weatherspoon and Bob Smith and Smith told me that Weatherspoon and himself would go to King's home and get advances like 50 grand here and 30 grand there, and that King had a huge vault in his home that he took the money out of. So by the time Weatherspoon fought he would already owe King a couple hundred grand and then Weatherspoon would get mad because King would deduct the money from his fight purse.
