Default Adam Azim v Ohara Davies

Adam Azim will take on fellow English light-welterweight Ohara Davies at the Copper Box Arena in London on 19 October.

Azim, 22, places his undefeated record on the line against 32-year-old Davies.

He won the European title in 2023, his first senior title, but says he wants to step up to world level.

"I'm ready to make a statement and show everybody that I’m ready for the biggest names in the division," Azim said.

"Our styles will make for an exciting fight but there’s only going to be one outcome."

Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom continues to tout Azim as the next big British talent, describing him as one of the "brightest young stars in world boxing".

Azim was set to fight Harlem Eubank but, after the fight was confirmed with a face-off in April, no date ever materialised.

Hackney fighter Davies has three defeats on his record, including to Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall, and comes into the Azim bout on the back of a loss to Ismael Barroso in January.

Davies, however, will be looking to stop the Azim ascent and get back to winning ways.

"It's a shame that I have to hand him his first defeat," Davies said.

"No needle, no hate, I want us to go back to our families happy and healthy after the fight. But this is where it all changes for him.

"I'm sorry Adam. This is where it ends."

I was a fan of Ohara Davies when he was on channel 5 free boxing but got destroyed by Josh Taylor who was possessed that day. He also lost to Jack Catterall so no shame in losing to world class boxers.

Davies had it tough and not had any red carpet or big promoter backing him.

Ohara Davies also lost to Barroso in Vegas which was a surprise.

Azim is the next superstar that Sky are pushing so we will see if he is the real deal.

Anthony Yarde will feature on the card, with his opponent Ralfs Vilcans only confirmed this week and not expected to provide too many problems.

Yarde is attempting to build his way back into world-title contention, nearly two years on from his defeat to Artur Beterbiev, a man who is now undisputed champion at light-heavyweight.

There is also a return to action for Dan Azeez, who is in need of a win after losing to Joshua Buatsi in February and then following it with a draw against Hrvoje Sep four months later.

Azim is the type fighter that looks amazing to the causals.

Ohara Davies is coming off a first round KO and he and Azim seem to have bromance going on and listening to Ohara talk it's like he's fell out of love with the sport and got smoke for everyone bar Azim. So I don't think his motivation to win this fight will be that high. But Ohara Davies has a name but this is medium risk.

Boxing is about testing yourself. There's far too much greatly overprotecting of prospects like Azim, 140 is a very strong division right now with Tank, Shakur, Teofimo, Ryan, Haney, Hitchins, Paro, Ramirez but even domestically, you have Catterall, Taylor. He should be focusing on cleaning house at home. Given Azim's lack of power and suspect chin, I'm not sure of him at world level. But, hey, he could've gone a way to proving ppl could be wrong by fighting and convincingly beating Dalton Smith. Take the step forward! Roll the dice!

This was the perfect time to make the fight, yet Shalom bottled it. They are both are adults in their 20s. Dalton the British Champ, Adam the Euro champ, Both are prospects with a similar number of fights, and similar ranking.

Yarde scores a first round knockdown in 10 seconds but taking his time to get some rounds in.

Terrible performance from Yarde, he paid no respect to his opponent and neglected his defence but wins on points.

Azim stops Davies with a left to the head in round 8. Good sold performance.

Very laboured and mediocre performance from Azeez to lose his light heavyweight Lonsdale belt against Edmondson.

Appreciate the info bud. Didn't expect too much from Davies. Red flags fly when entering a fight talking retirement and what am I even doing here. Yarde pooched it, just seemed to settle in and blah.

Ohara Davies did announce his retirement during the interview after the fight. Azim is very talented prospect but not ready for the domestic clash with undefeated Dalton Smith and did not make the fight with Harlem Eubank when they had the face off.

Yarde is an enigma. He should stick with big domestic fights and not price himself out of them.

Azeez should have retained his title, can not believe how far he has fallen.

There's nothing enigmatic about Yarde. Fights nobodies, looks a million dollars. Fights genuine World class and gets the piss kicked out of him. Repeat.

Now. He's struggled back in his natural habitat of beating up nobodies. Bodes well.

He's just not that good. Shame. Lot's of raw ingredients that were never turned into a finished product.

Fight went as I thought. Shalom have got to go for Dalton Smith or Josh Taylor next. Taylor fight would be big- especially the old connection to the McGuigans

But with Dalton Smith Shalom is probably gonna do that typical boxing dumb shit of "O...dont fight now, let it marinate and it'll be mega in a couple of years" the same thing they did with AJ-Fury, Brook- Khan, Hatton - Witter. They never learn

As a side note. Man I love this song. Best song in a sports movie...ever. Get's me so hyped
