Default interesting possibilities in welterweight division

as it stands right now gatti and baldo will fight for the wbc strap and hatton and collazo for the wba trinket. it looks like pbf and margarito will fight to unify their respective IBF and WBO titles. obviously the boxing world is looking for gatti to whip baldomir and become the wbc champ and face hatton after he hopefully beats collazo in impressive fashion, winning over the US fans for the wba version of the title. this will set up a potentially huge PPV matchup between Gatti and hatton on HBO to unify those two straps. the plan is for PBF to care of business as usual and beat toni. the hope is that hatton beat's gatti in an exciting battle setting up a huge superfight between ricky and PBF two guys who are undefeated and in their physical primes-- a rareity lately in boxing--for the undisputed championhip. ( perhaps more $ can be made if floyd can sneak in a quick defense against shane, but it looks more like shane will stay at 54 to rematch nando)

that scenario would be great for boxing but these things usually dont fall into a nice neat package, especially in the boxing world. first off, i do belive gatti will beat baldo and hatton will most likely get by collazo. but gatti truly has a great shot to beat ricky hatton. not just a pipe dream punchers chance like he did vs PBF, but a real live shot to win. gatti is fresha nd strong at 147 at this point in his life and ricky will be in front of him and gatti will land punches. i beleive gatti is the stronger more athletic, bigger guy. and although gatti cuts and swells, hatton certainly does as well. i thik gatti kayoes hatton. if thats the case certainly there will be no gatti-pbf rematch . leaving a fractured division and both guys looking for other avenues. for floyd, he has alot of options, including winky wright and maybe a bigger superfight than hatton in oscar DLH. gatti is a one man show--he doesnt need anybody---he could fight a 45 yr old guy in the front row and atlantic city would sell out. especially with two belts around his waist. he could do a hatton rematch ---which would be a good option cuz most likely the first fight would have been very exciting, or perhaps he coaxes a guy like tzyu out of retiremenet for a big $ match-up.

What happens if Gatti loses to Baldomir though?

Baldomir aint the easiest customer in the world to box...& Gatti...IWO...has issues with boxers.

    Just a thought?

baldo is no boxer--not even close--i think he is the john ruiz of the welter division except not that good....he is the perfect style match-up for gatti..thats why gatti's handlers were frothing at the mouth for the fight.......baldo wants the fight because its his chance to make some paper--period

    easy kayo for gatti

An unfocused Judah is a much better & slicker boxer than Gatti...who's to say that a focused Baldomir isn't the better of Gatti until we see the fight?

It's easy to rule it out...but then again...so was a Judah loss against Baldomir...look where that got us.

I think that Gatti/Baldomir fight is a lot more interesting than people give it credit for. Baldo came from about nowhere and got a UD over Zab. He took some solid shots from Zab and it did not faze him. I think that Baldomir is going to give Gatti a tough fight. I feel that Baldomir has a good chance to win this fight. I think that he can take Gatti's punches and draw Gatti into another tough war. The question will be if Gatti can stand to go through another war?
