Man, for me, it is one thing,

    ADDICTING, ADDICTING , ADDICTING

Once I got in man I was so addicted to it, I just couldn't get enough, still that way to.

Took about two/three months before we started sparring.

Good grief. My first "moderator" act is to remove my own post- thought I'd hit 'new topic', not 'reply'
The boxing ring, to me, is like a lab or a classroom. That has been true since the first time- there is so muchto learn or to teach, and you can test your theories and recieve a pass/fail grade immediately. There is always a hint ofpotential danger, if not absolute ruin if it gets out of hand. There is also the promise of feeling...great. I don't know how else to explain the feeling of being pushed by a difficult opponent and coming out ahead, or the evenings you wish would never end when everything works perfectly.
    That's the addictive factor,for me.

Try smashing your uncle's face in - that's what it feels is like to win big in the ring.

Your Uncle's only saying that to give you the motivation to get back in the ring if you find it tough... he wants you to prove him wrong...

Whats it like in the ring... its different for every one... when your not used to it its sort of like if you did something embarassing in the caffaterior at school, all eyes are focused on your every move. Its not like football or something, you get the feeling that your are being measured and feel isolated... won't take you long to feel comfortable in the ring though.

To be honest the first time you do it you'll be thinking of 1000s of different things 'what do I do when he does that' 'do I move my foot like this to step left' 'what was it turn your shoulder back and work off the oppo- OW! I'MT TRYING TO THINK HERE!'

Once you train your sef so they stances and moves become an instinct it'll all be much clearer. The whole point of learning to box is changing your instinctive reaction... instead of blinking and turning your head away when some one trys to hit you... that reaction turns into a parry, a block or a slip. Instead of thinking 'to punch step this way, turn this leg, twist here etc' you just think 'cross' 'hook' and perform it correctly with out even thinking.

it sucks to get hit in the temple, and taking a shot anywhere on the head tends to emit a flash if ur hit hard enough, u wanna not get hit on the chin, temple, or jaw, cuz thats where its gonna cause the most damage, getting hit below the eye isnt bad, unless u have unusually high cheek bones or something

I've never gotten a flash like that in all the time I've boxed, I've taken a few hard clean shots but the only time I ever really felt one is when this southpaw caught me with a left hook right on my jaw, legs didn't go but I got a numb sensation all of the right hand side of my jaw... like when you got your mouth numbed by a dentist.

i don't know if its because I have a good defence or a good chin or what it is but I've never been stunned or hurt by a head shot... can take body shots just as well but if I was ever knocked down, that would probably be the shot that did it.
