Three-division former world champion Erik “Terrible” Morales is expected to return December 18 at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico to fight for the WBC Silver super lightweight title against an opponent to be determined. The fight would be added to the blockbuster SHOWTIME pay-per-view telecast that’s also featuring Bernard Hopkins against WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal from Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. A win for Morales would pave the way for him to face his countryman Juan Manuel Marquez, the current WBA/WBO lightweight world champion, in a 2011 mega-fight. For the December 18 date, Morales will again prepare at the Otomi Ceremonial Center, located in Temoya, Estado de Mexico.

Mexican legend Erik Morales, still in pursuit of a fourth world title that would see him make history, is scheduled, according to Fightnews.com, to be back in the ring on December 18th in Tijuana. Fighting again at light-welterweight, against an as yet unannounced opponent, the 34-year-old could be just one win away from an all-Mexican super-fight with world lightweight king Juan Manuel Marquez.

Reportedly, Morales’ next fight, his 57th in a career that has seen him thus far reach stats of 50-6(35), will be shown on Showtime along with the Jean Pascal-Bernard Hopkins light-heavyweight title clash from Canada that same day.

I think he should fight Joel Casamayor. A name with a ranking and beatable. Be good if he could get an earlier stoppage than Marquez too.

Aparently Morales is now number 2 contender to Devon Alexander. Although I think he should stick to Marquez. Marquez has his hands full in his next fight but should win. I think this next fight will age Marquez.
