cool click. what an awesome fighter
An absolute beast.
i saw the two benn knockdowns??...but where is the part where he quit??
i know it is tragic what happened to him but - if the accident didn't happen to the G-man and he walked back to the corner and attended the press conference and didn't suffer brain damage.....he would now be known as a quiter when tested...and that is the truth.
in this harsh world of boxing it wouldnt surprise me. even the uk commentators at the time when he was on one knee said he quit. after 10 brutal rounds how can u be accused of thisOriginally Posted by pete_thommo
I dont understand the logic to this post... He took a knee after an uppercut and got counted out as he couldnt get up due to brain damage, If he didnt have brain damage then he would have got up.Originally Posted by pete_thommo
Why is it even worth considering what would have happened if he gave up ?

Sadly I remember screaming at him for quitting.... I think that is why so many people are very uneasy about that fight, because I do not think I was alone.Originally Posted by LBSCFC
Im so happy he is a brain damaged....
He was a nasty human being....
Im glad he didnt die, but is now suffering
great clip of a great warrior

I wont comment on him myself as i dont know much about him.
was he that bad?
Yes, theres a article about him I posted on this page....
Read it, then you will realise its not so harsh....
I'm not going to comment on what a horrible person I thought he was but anyone who thinks that Benn should have been allowed to go on after being knocked down like that is a FOOL!
G-Man should have won that fight and everyone knows it...either way those guys never affected boxing again
well the whole point of stopping a fight is because it is believed the boxer can not go on and has no chance, no ?Originally Posted by Lyle
So the fact he could go on to win the fight suggests the referee made a good call does it not?
Correct me if im wrong

Well the fact that Benn could have been the one in the wheelchair makes me say NO it was a horrible call
I dont understand your logic.Originally Posted by Lyle
This is like saying that one of them HAD to end up in a wheelchair at the end of the fight , this is not the case
If Benn got knocked out that night, then he may have ended up brain damaged like any boxer who gets knocked out , or he may have made a full recovery like most boxers, its just the risk of the game isnt it. The fact he had the strength to win shows the correct call was made as the rules dont really give a shit whether you get brain damaged, they just care about whether you have a chance to win or not.
