Mayweather:a smart business man(I made that title)

    good huh

I have to admit,as much as I am in awe of his talent,he has a superb business brain too. Leaving on good terms with Arum because he knows only Arum can get him the big fights EXCEPT the Oscar fight,so he goes it alone for that one then back in bed with Arum. That is sheer genius!!! I honestly did not see that and it also leaves the door open to fight Margarito later, which I think he will. Me happy

Mayweather is hurting his legacy by not taking on the "real" challenges...but then again history can change over time too...I mean when Holyfield beat Tyson no one thought Tyson was washed up at the time same when Lewis beat him...but now you look back and you say "Tyson was done after Douglas beat him"...PBF should still fight Margarito, Hatton, Baldomir, and Cotto

What!? did you just say PBF need to fight Baldobuster for his legacy? You can't be serious....

Mayweather leaving Arum had to happen.

It's been coming for the past two years.

It all came to a head with the Gatti fight...Mayweather was bailing out then...why do you think that the now shows @ the pressers were happening.

Arum was forking over the cash for Floyd's legal problems.

Arum paid him out & he took the fight & everyone got rich.

If people didn't see this coming...then you just have to recognize that boxing's full of snakes just sliding by each other waiting to see who get's bitten first.

You can recognize the facts...Floyd was meeting with Oscar back at the pressers for Oscar vs Mayorga & swapping words with Hopkins, Mosley, & Oscar.

Remember back...Mayorga slung words at everyone @ the presser but Mayweather. I know you peeps read that...anyways...it wouldn't surprise me if Floyd signed with Hopkins & Oscar...or if he just opened up with his own gig co-promoting the fight...Floyd's looking waaaaaaaaaaay down the road.

The problem now is this...if he's truly cut loose from Arum...Margarito will now most likely NOT happen.

Why would Bob Arum risk any of his few remaining earners (Margarito / Cotto) to a loss at the hands of two (Floyd / Oscar) of his biggest earners?

But Wack, they have a gentleman's agreement to do business down the line and Mayweather knows Arum can get him the big fights and big paydays EXCEPT Oscar fight so I see it like this:Mayweather goes it alone, maybe fights Oscar, maybe not, then rejoins with Arum. Remember,no -one else aside from Arum is going to get the big 8mill paydays!! Only Arum is willing to invest that much into those type of fights.

As the old saying goes "You have to beat the man to be the man"....otherwise Holyfield wouldn't have bothered with Buster Douglas

That wasn't the case...holyfield was in line to fight the winner of the tyson/douglass regardless of who it was...tyson lost and buster got instant credibility...its very simple..the same as PBF was already set to fight judah before he lost...

It's different nowadays...where they don't promote the guys who win, but rather the more marketable names....

The main thing that Mayweather has on his side that many fighters do not...he's an HBO exclusive fighter.

Trust me babe, Floyd can get the big paydays without Arum...specially if he saddles up with Oscar.

Look at Hopkins...he didn't start getting $10 mill a check till he fought Oscar. After that he got $6 mill.

Once Floyd moves to Oscar...he aint gonna need Bob Arum...Arum knows that.

Aaaah, good points Mr.Wacko but I put to you that even without Arum, there are alot of factors in the way of the fight:

    Mayweather wants too much

I think Oscar would rather fight Tito.

Oscar does not want to be a stepping stone to anyone, his ego would not allow it and remember,he does not need Mayweather.

Didn't Floyd's pops say he would never train a fighter to fight his son?

and from fans perspective, does fighting Oscar gain Floyd more credit? Not in my opinion unless Oscar some how magically tunrs back the clock and puts in an awesome Old style Oscar performance which is highly highly unlikely.

I agree with The Game floyd left Arum because the timming is right for him to try to fight Oscar, both arum and oscar made it clear that this fight wouldn't happen if the other was involved, but I think he wants too much to fight Hatton and Cotto. a fighter he said was too green for him and a fighter he said didn't want to fight him.

Wasn't it the same "smart businessman" who called HBO's $12 million offer "slave wages?"

A twelve million dollar 3-5 fight deal is a weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bit different from a $10 million dollar fight.

It's very different, and you don't have to be smart to figure any of this out (not tryin to diss the title)

This is all common sense, and it makes sense that Floyd would go after Oscar and the big money first, but the whole problem is I think Floyd is capable of completing ducking Margarito just as Hopkins did Calzaghe for years. I'd be very suprised if we seen that fight, but I do think Hatton-Maywayweather will happen atleast. What can ya do, he's only 147 pounds - he's not meant to have big balls

No offence taken bro,the title is tongue in cheek as I always acuse Mayweather of running from Tony, now I concede he is being smart.
