VIEW— "I truly believe Mayorga has a good chance. Oscar has been inactive and I think he’s trying to do the Trinidad blueprint – come back and get a win over a credible guy. But I don’t think De La Hoya has that kind of punching power. He has the speed and quickness to outbox Mayorga, but I think Mayorga is going to put pressure on him and he’s got that wild side – no matter how bad he’s being beat, he’s trying to knock your head off and he won’t quit. The body attack by De La Hoya is going to be too much for him and will have a big effect on him as the fight goes on. VIEW—"This is going to be an interesting fight, Oscar who has not fought in over a year and Ricardo is so unpredictable. I think this fight will go the distance with a lot of action , but I think Oscar will come away with the victory because of his boxing skills and he has a way at getting up for big fights and this is a big fight for him."

PREDICTION—TOSS-UP
VIEW—“I think this fight’s a toss-up. Oscar has the skills and ability, so he should win. But Mayorga's power and constant pressure, his ability to absorb a lot and Oscar being inactive for almost 2 years, gives Mayorga an edge. I just think it can go either way.”

LUIS COLLAZO—WBA Welterweight Champion defending title against Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton at the Boston Garden May 13 on HBO.
PREDICTION—MAYORGA, 10TH ROUND KO FROM A BODYSHOT
VIEW: “De La Hoya's style has changed for the worse since he started training with Floyd Mayweather Sr. He doesn't move and throw combinations the way he used to. Mentally, I see Mayorga getting stronger and stronger, and if Oscar hasn't got it yet, he's gonna get it on May 6. Mayorga fights better against people he truly dislikes, and he doesn't like Oscar at all. I see Mayorga breaking him down with pressure and body work. When Mayorga hits him right on the nose, let's see how De La Hoya responds to that. My guess is, he's not going to like that."

this has the porential to be a very interesting fight....at first i thought delahoya would box his way to a smart victory, but now im not so sure....

mayorga could just be the wrong kind of madman to be dealing with coming in after a long lay off and some not so great results....

and of course i dont really want to see PBF: delahoya.....PBF chasing the cash cow is just getting annoying, fight those other guys first!

on top of this im actually able to see the fight live here in korea!! yes, its one of those occasions when the sports networks treat miles to a show.....starts at 10am here though, still not complaining, just gotta stay easy on the sauce come saturday night!

Funny that the only person who picks Mayorga with any conviction is Luis Collazo... Someone should tell him Mayorgas chances are about the same as his against Hatton.

After the sixth, Mayorga always gets tired. But Oscar will get more tired.

Oscar's defense, he'll take punches on the arms a lot. He'll take body shots too.

Make no mistake, Oscar's a schooled fighter, but at this stage, even though Mayorga isn't 90% after the Trinidad beat down...
... My pick is Mayorga, by stoppage.

BUT!!!!

Mayorga can make this fight work for him, if he puts pressure on de la Hoya all night. But Mayorga couldn't and wouldn't do that with Corey Spinks, so I no longer trust Mayorga anymore as a pressure fighter.

This is also toss-up too. If it goes to decision, it's Oscar's night. Possibly controversial.





Conclusion: Add it up, Oscar's age, declining stamina, inactivity work against him. He'll lose on Saturday night.

Spinks is a coward. Reason he kept him off is because he focused nearly 100% on defense, not offense. He never tried to hurt Mayorga or sit down on any of his punches. He ran ran ran ran ran...got knocked down...got up ran some more and got a gift decision. Ref and judges beat Mayorga, not Spinks. And if Oscar goes to da body he will leave his head wide open for Mayorga to knock it off his shoulders.
