Default Just picked up a speed bag

an everlast gyro balanced 4210 (I'm a boxing newb) for $36 at a local sports store. Is that a decent bag at a decent price or no? And please be honest....I kept the receipt! BTW, super high end isn't a need of mine.

Also, I'm gonna join a local gym and might pick up some shoes. Is there a decent boxing shoe for around $40? Remember, this is just to drop a few poinds and to lose the wife a couple times a week so I'm not looking to drop tons of cash. I just want to look half decent! And if I edn up being heavyweight champion of the world, well great!

    Any thoughts on these

    Thanks!

Boxing shoes are really a nessiciaty until you get in the actual ring. With you first starting out, you just need some basic athletic workout shoes. Like nike, reebok, etc. etc. Glad to know you are joining boxing. They are more expensive but you are probably going to want to purchase a heavy bag, because you wont be at the gym 24/7 so you will need something at home. Along with some work out gloves which are just about 25-30 bucks. Other than that you should be set. And be sure above all to have fun with it.

Thanks. I've got a heavy bag and a speed bag (now) and a couple sets of bag gloves. Just need some good instruction now....why do I feel like Hillary Swank.

I figure I may as well buy real boxing shoes since they're cheaper than nike cross trainers anyway. My Target knock-off of Vans runners pro'bly won't cut it!

    Oh ok well thats good.

Yeah, well you could also buy wrestling shoes if you wanted, I think they are a little bit cheaper and they are basically the same, boxing shoes are just usually a little more high top looking but the figure and type of sole it has made for the canvas is about the same so just look around and compare prices.
