A speed bag is not a necessity. But it does build hand speed, hand/eye coordination, and it definitely builds your shoulder endurance. Not a necessary thing but it really does help
you can also use it as a 'cool down' after a hard workout.
id buy a double end bag to be honest wit ya. I bought a speed bag a while back and unless you know how strong ur walls are, it can b a risky investment, as i found out. The only place i can put it is the garage and the walls are old brick, the screws just wriggle out over time. So check that before you buy!!!
if u have the money i would invest on a heavy bag first then a speed bag...i have a speed bag right now then a heavy bag wenever i can make it out 2 buy 1...but get a heavy bag first...then a speed bag if u really want 1...cuz their hard to work at first...but get a heavy bag then a speed bag
^^^ Im selling my heavy bag if you need to buy one.
