Default Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.

Corrales promoter Gary Shaw announces that the fight is off. Castillo's promoter Bob Arum says he is "mortified and completely embarrassed. The SHOWTIME telecast will go on with IBF flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan vs Luis Maldonado as the main event.

Jose Luis Castillo has just weighed in at 140 or FIVE POUNDS above the lightweight limit. Corrales weighed in right at the 135 limit. After Corrales made weight, Castillo got on the scale again and weighed 139.5. Castillo now has two hours to lose two pounds. IF he can do that, Castillo will be given another two hours to lose the balance. At that point, they'll decide if we have a fight. Promoter Bob Arum has stated previously that Castillo was facing big penalties if he could not make weight. It is rumored he would forfeit 25% of his purse to Corrales. (More to come!!!)

Promoter Bob Arum is furious at Castillo. "This is a complete disgrace," said Arum. "As far as I'm concerned, I do not represent him. If I was Corrales, I wouldn't fight him. This is a disgrace to the sport of boxing."

UPDATE: Castillo has two hours to lose two pounds. Period. The Nevada commission will not allow him to lose more, saying it is medically unsafe. If he can't lose two pounds, apparently there is no fight.

This is not good, I can't understand why he would agree for a 3rd match if he can no longer make the light weight limit. If this fight dosen't happen Im gona be pissed off.

It's not off yet, but it looks it it will be. Castillo has no buisness trying to make 135 anymore. It's to much to ask from his body.

CC, completely agree... Im a fan of Castillo but this is just low down dirty shit... IMO Corrales has grounds to file a civil action against him... Think about all the training and waiting on his part only for Castillo to now come in WAY overweight twice(not to mention that they actually let the fight continue the 2nd time without Castillo even coming close to the weight)... It's like he didnt even try to make weight, what a joke.... Utter BS, Im completely torn over what I would like to see happen as well... On the one hand I wan't the fight to go on because it could be a great one, on the other... Corrales has absolutely no reason to fight this guy, if he can't even show him the basic respect of ATTEMPTING to make weight. Fuk Castillo, he and his camp are a bit shady imo... Wonder whether they had a foot on the scale again this time... Maybe Castillo really weighs 160 ...

If it is to much to ask of his body then it should have been to much for him to put his name on the dotted line.

Same. I mean, I wouldn't have been surprised if he came in a little overweight...but 5 lbs? Are you kidding me? He's 32, this is ridiculous. If I'm Corrales, the fight is off.

The fight will probably go on, too much money to be made. When is the last time you saw a fight be cancelled over weight? Mayorga vs Jose Antonio Rivera comes to mind but that is about it. This will probably just end up being another "Non-Title, 12 round special attraction" Fukin Castillo. I like the guy a lot, but shat. This is the second time he has pulled this shat. He has been making lightweight for years now. All of a sudden it is just impossible for him to come close ? Yeah right.

If I am Corrales I really have to think twice before going through with this fight if Castillo doesnt make weight. If he goes ahead, he is just going to get another beat down inside of 6 rounds. I wouldnt blame Corrales for going ahead, but imo its a stupid idea.
