Most young fighters who rely on speed and spacing generally don't like being on the ropes, however most of them (the great ones in particular) know how to get out of those situations effectively. Notice that every round that Winky won was a round that he was able to back Jermaine up on the ropes get clean shots to the head. With the exception of his flurries, Jermaine was almost defenseless. Lennox Lewis was absolutely correct in that Jermaine didn't have proper balance and because of this, Winky was able to back him up almost at will.
Too bad that Hopkins didn't take this approach towards Taylor, or he would have won their two bouts easily.
