Default Winky Wright was lucky to get a draw IMO...

Winky was pissing me off big time the way he was raising his arms after every round he lost... Despite what he says, Winky knew he was losing that fight - Taylor's firepower had him worried big time.

The guy next to me had $100 riding on Winky to win and he even thought he lost... he just didn't have the firepower to worry Taylor, who certainly had Wright worried on occasions.

I scored the fight 115-113 for Taylor.

And Winky is a dickhead - that is all.

You raise your arms when you are pushing shit up hill, when things aren't going well and you are distracted. Likewise when somebody smiles at a guy after he's nailed you, you know the man is feeling the shot.

Taylors power got to him, make no mistake and Winky doesn't have the pop at 160 to worry Taylor.

I am gonna have to watch this one again, coz its obvious that the majority think Wright one. I actually had it 115-113 Taylor, and without being bigheaded I am pretty sh1t hot at scoring fights

Who knows I may see it different second time round and without the shocking commentary.

Watched it on Sky Sports - The commentary team of Ian Darke (I think) and Jim Watt were pretty fair and not suprisingly one had it for Taylor and the other for Wright. Meanwhile back in the studio the 3 in the panel had it the same as well as one going for the draw! They all made good arguements for their scores and I think it's a testament to a good close fight.

The guys on Sky sports usually talk nonsense anyway.

No-one said Winky had the pop to hurt Taylor, that is irrelevant.JT was not landing his shots cleanly, powerful or not,Winky was landing cleanly and blocking alot that came his way.Winky landed more too and was far more accurate. And if you had seen Winky before(ie Mosley fights),you would see he always raises his arms, and how do you know what it is for? It could be to buoy the crowd?? Winky also always smiles, and that is to show he was not hurt and I don't recall him being seriously hurt at any point.

How any one can score some one who blasted away at arms and gloves whilst getting walked into corners all night by a man who was about 7 pounds lighter and picked him off all night is beyond me...

Same as when ever Taylor threw anything hard a combination... the HBO dick heads were going nuts about it... despite few of them actually hitting Winky...

CC Adam, points I forgot to mention.Winky was the lighter man yet was backing JT up at will, effective aggression! More points in favour of Winky. JT did land cleanly towards the end but even then,Winky would come back and sometimes JT would launch a combo because he was being swamped by Winky.

yes but apparently to Jim Lampley, shots on the arms or that miss wildly are beautiful combinations and best shots of the fight if your name is Oscar Delahoya or Jermain Taylor

    Exactly!

Calling a fight like that a robbery is ridiculous

If ever a draw was a fair result that fight was it.

how one could score a win for taylor is beyond me i dont even care anymore.....but i read in the paper today that 1 of the judges had taylor ahead 6-2 which is bullshit and winky should have won the last round.....if taylor does nothing and winky does nothing how does taylor win the round? winky even outlanded him by7 punches that round

I thought Taylor was the winner he landed harder punches consistently throughout the fight and seemed to have Wright going a few times .

Taylor still has alot to improve on at times he looked like he was having a lazy spar with his hands down thrashing about to the body his handspeed impressed me but i expected him to wear down Wright .

Id fancy Taylor to do a Manny Pac/ Morrales on him in the rematch.

Body language spoke volumes despite Wright raising his hands at the end of every round he was only kidding himself and obviously the judges hehehe.

    Taylor the boss .

If Winky wasn't hurt, why did he stop his attacks everytime he was countered by Taylor. I saw him back off many times during his onslaught when he was countered effectively by Taylor; that, to me, is a clear indication that he'd been hurt.
Once in awhile, get outside in fresh air, take a deep breath & with a deep sigh, let out all the things that's bottled up inside you & be free, & you'll get a glimpse of nirvana.

I wasn't influenced by Lamps - I had Colonel Bob Sheridan doing the commentary over here, not that I could here much of it in a crowded bar.

Still scored it for Taylor 115-113.

I thought it was a highly entertaining fight, and a close one too... But how on earth Winky can shout 'robbery' and storm out of the ring is beyond me man, and only further cements his status as a 'total dickhead'...
