If proper drug testing took place, and Pryor entered the ring clean, Duran wins every time!
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
i did hear they were going fight at lightweight but never happened
Late 78/79 was really the only practical time it could of happened. And there is no way a relative novice even as good as Pryor competes with 135 prime Duran. Duran would of picked apart and won at a canter in the end in 10 or so rounds.Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING

Everyone points to the first Arguello fight, but personally I think Pryor reached his peak the night he annihilated the brilliant Antonio Cervantes in August 1980.
Cervantes? Wasn't he behind on points when he beat knocked him out? But Aaron Pryor would beat Duran at Lightweight because I don't think Duran would outbox him. And I don't think Duran would have been able to beat Arguello.
The excellent Cervantes decked Pryor in the first, hence the reason the fight was close after three rounds. Pryor's victory is even more amazing because of the knockdown. Cervantes had been virtually unbeatable at 140lbs, post 71, whilst this was Pryor's first fight at the weight. Pryor was very much on top by the fourth...Originally Posted by P.G.H Angel Eyes
As for Duran, Pryor/Duran could of only happened in 78/79, when Roberto was at his absolute best, and Pryor was still learning his trade.
As for Duran/Arguello; it was meant to happen in the late 70s, but Arguello blew it when he lost a non title fight to a Journeyman, something prime Duran would never of done.
Pryor had the best work ethic of all sparing up to 45 rounds a day (read this in a boxing magazine). I would have given him a good chance against Duran, Leonard or Hears. In fact He beat Hearns handily in the Golden gloves and I think the Olympic trials. I have read that In sparing he and Leonard beat the heck out of each other with Leonard being dropped on occasion. Pryor challenged Leonard on several occasions and was finally offered 500,000 to Leonard's $4 million and thus these unfair negotiations brought on the down-fall of what could have been a great fight.
Hawk
I think Pryors workrate would be the difference. Both guys in their primes would have been amazing to see.
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
So would Pryor vs. McGirt
i heard in the golden gloves pryor broke tommy hearns nose
as much as i love duran its the hawk for me. his workrate and stamina and rock solid chin would see him through for a points win
I just do not understand how anyone could think that Pryor in 78/79 could beat absolute prime Duran.
Pryor was at least 18 months away from his peak, he was a relative novice fighting a 60-1 fighter, with 12 defence of the World Championship to his name. Pryor had barely 12 fights to his name in the timescale!
It could only lead to one result, Duran win, probably rather easily.
