i think PPV has diminished boxing's popularity immensley....you went from the days of megafights on regular television to cable which eliminated the poor man and most boxing fans......anymore if they have a half decent fight they want to throw it on PPV.....it is not good for the advancement of the sport in this day and age......Originally Posted by Chino

Good point! Imagine if all other sports started doing the same thing. I just can't imagine the World Series on PPV.

Whatever sport makes you pay for HBO and Showtime just to get SOME fights, $45 for the rest? None. It's ridiculous. Hey HBO, Don King and Bob Arum...![]()

I think Jenna Jameson has beat them all!!
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

At the most you have twelve rounds of boxing which means you have about 20 seconds per round, regular tv only get's paid by it's sponsors which mean they could only throw 1 commercial in per round (2 maximum) in a 20 second spand unless you want them to put the fight back on in the middle of the round. So after all that you get in twelve commercials for the main event (24 max) the main event which is the point everybody will tune in. Unlike other sports it just does not work.

Alas, these words are also wise...
They could do something similar to Pabst Blue Ribbon. That logo is shown constantly on all the old fights...
There are a lot of advertising oppurtunities I think. It could be a whole show like ESPN 2 or Spike TV with UFC. They could plug movies, have celebrities in attendance, make it an EVENT. Guess I could only dream though right?Originally Posted by BoxingGorilla
