    Default Feedback wanted: new gloves.

guys, just picked myself up a nice pair of sparring gloves. I wanted ringside's Ultimate Classics since they were $100 on sale for $50, but they didn't have 16's left. So I went over to titleboxing and got a very similar deal ($50) off on their TUFWEAR gloves.... $109 os sale for $59.

I have 60days to return them so I'd appreciate some thoughts. (Yes, I know they're lace-up.. had no better choices!) Seems to me like a great deal on some pretty heavy duty gloves though. Thanks.

What weight did you get? the 16s? They look well built. Its hard to tell with out touching them but Tuf Wear are a good make so I'd imagine you get what you paid for.

A word of warning about 16oz gloves, they are good and they put more weight on your hands which is a good thing in terms of conditioning... it takes a while to get used to the extra padding so it may affect your accuracy and range on the bags for a few days, you'll soon adapt, the only down size is that the extra padding tends to cause the gloves to wear out slightly faster than other gloves I have seen (in my experience any way... it may just be my right hand... the left is perfectly fine... the right looks like it has tumor

yep. 16's. I contyemplated the Ultimate Classic 14's, but my trainer warned me that some guys would feel I have an unfair advantage in sparring and might not want to go. We use 16's eclusively at our gym when sparring. pretty standard i guess. .

Also, I only plan on using them in sparring, whih is only every so often. I'll use me Neverlasts on the bag and if they fall aport, oh well.

I would seriously consider keeping you bag and sparring gloves seperate (infact, your ment to use bag gloves on the bags and sparring in the ring... though at the end of a the day a glove is a glove, as far as the bag is conserned) main reason being if you knock the stuffing out of your bag gloves (which you will ) over time then you'll only be a step or two away from fighting bare knuckle... bad for your hands and the other kid's head :P

Treat them with care..I bought about 5 pairs for my gym for the same reason at the time they were on sale..Problem is they became dis portionate the padding tends to push over to the out side of the glove quicker than the Ringside gloves..If they are just for yourself and you are looking to make an investment spend the extra money and get yourself a pair of everlast gloves or better yet go for the gusto and get some Reyes..

Can't justify Reyes right now. For what I'm doing, I doubt they'll ever be disproportionalte. lol. I'll only use them to spar, which is likely a rare occasion. I have $30 16oz Everlast training gloves that I'll use only on the bag. So far, for as cheap as they were, I'm very happy with them, knock wood.

Well if you dont spar often than what you have is just fine..When I talked about the gloves I had bought You have to figure they went about 75-100 rds per week with about 10 light Heavy and HW fighters

oh, for commercial use, eh? No wonder. Gloves used by everyone in the gym can last for only so long. Kids beat the crap out of stuff that isn't theirs. I figure two pairs, each with a dedicated use, ought to last me quite a while. When my everlasts go I'll invest in some nicer "bag" gloves. When I bought my everlasts I didn't know the difference between a training glove and a bag glove. My goal was to not have to wear stinky sweaty gloves supplied by the gym. Some things just shouldn't be shared.
