Default AT THERE BEST- WHO WINS LAMOTTA vs. GRAZIANO

This was one fight that I would have loved to see, and it almost happened, it got scrapped when Graziano supposedly broke his hand. They were sort of friends, and from what I heard from old-timers they even fought in and out of the ring in youth dentention centers, Rocky even said he handled him back then. But most old-timers usually tell me LaMotta would have won, both were hard as nails fighters with Graziano the much bigger puncher, while LaMotta had IMO the best chin ever, Fritzie Zivic stated Lamotta was the toughest S.O.B that he ever faced, saying that he hit Lamotta on the button with an uppercut, right on the chin and LaMotta never blinked...Zivic said he broke his hand on Lamotta's chin. As big a puncher as Graziano was, Lamotta took Satterfields punch and he was a terrific puncher, so if Graziano could'nt hurt Lamotta, lamotta would wear Graziano down and score a late rd stoppage, but what a fight it would be!!!!!

I may get bashed for this, but this is my honest opinion. I think Jake LaMotta is vastly overrated, especially among fans on this board. I'd be willing to bet that if you took any of the great, well rounded fighters of the past 20 years, no matter what weight class, and hypothetically matched them up in 5 p4p fights with Ray Robinson, ALL of them would win at least once. LaMotta's one win over Robinson is far from proving he's on Ray's level. If he won 2 out of 5, maybe, but when you fight a guy 5 times and he beats you 4 times, you basically got owned. His one win and of course 'Raging Bull' gives him unworthy status as some legend. He was a real good fighter and tough as nails, but Graziano would tear his azz up.

    cc for telling the truth.............
no question, the guy was a flat out WARRIOR but being an all time great takes more than guts and heart (holyfield comes to mind)

i completely agree with your points on the movie, and beating robinson once out of five times.
dont get me wrong, imo he was without a doubt great, but graziano smokes him (as would MANY great middleweights)
