Default when is hollywood gonna recognize the evolution of martial arts?

I know Hong Kong movies are very flashy, with people flying through the air, and throwing seemingly useless kicks at ridiculous speeds. American martial arts action usually takes its lead from Asian influences so theres no real originality there. Anyone know any movies that deal with MMA or is hollywood just interested in seeing fighters jump up 5 floors then fly to the next building to take on 50 guys on the roof top.

MMA is no good on film, who wants to see sweaty men in pants rolling round the floor? Kung fu hustle is where it's at.

There actually was a video they were pimping on sherdog featuring randy couture about MMA fighting. Called No Rules. Here's the imdb for it, although its not very helpful. http://imdb.com/title/tt0446010/
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

The media ignoring MMA really chaps my ass. ESPN will show Xgames all day but not a single mma fight. I love to play poker, but its kind of BS that I can watch poker 24 hrs a day but can only find mma on free tv once or twice a week. I mean honestly is the world championships of darts or paintball really going to draw a bigger audience than showing some good pride or ufc fights? Even foxsports which shows pride reruns never actually reports on the sport.

join the club. I godda get up at 7am to watch F1.

one more thing, let's be honest, even that moron Chris Leben called this one right... watching guys roll gets boring. I love mma, but too much does challenge my attention span. It gets painfully slow.

I personally think if they tried a little bit harder, real fighting could look good on screen. It's not like when we see Wanderlei stomping on a person's skull while they're laying on the canvas is boring, things like that would look fantastic on a big screen. The question is, are people ready for realstic violence like that on a regular basis in movies? Of course not, we live in the most confrentational time period the world has ever seen. From the left, from the right, people would be pissing and moaning about how our kids don't need to be seeing this shit, but it's ok to have Will Smith and Martin Lawrence crack a few jokes and shoot every other person they see walking down a sidewalk. I've shown some of my mma dvd's to others who weren't fans of the sport, and most of them especially the women can't handle the gory reality. Which IMO those people are weak and need to be removed from the planet, but I'll save that discussion for later.

Haha...I've actually run into the opposite reaction with most chicks. I used to work at a Blockbuster, and for the last couple hours before closing, I'd run whatever UFC dvds we had on all the TVs in the store. I'd say about 7/10 chicks that saw it were really interested, and I think literally all but one guy were either very interested, or they just sat around to watch the fights, or even rented one of the DVDs after they saw it. UFC fights went from being rented only by me (and I didnt pay for them) to being constantly rented out once I started showing the DVDs in the store, so I think I did my part.

However, at my security job, the most common response among my other guards seems to be (when they see them rolling) "Is that gay sex?" or "Are those dudes having sex with each other?" and whatnot.

simple animal instincts.... chicks love toughguys for protection...the apex preditor....the alpha male...

That's why I always slip in "I'm a boxer" into conversations! (the wife just rolls her eyes!)

do you honestly believe that ESPN couldn't afford to buy the rights for UFC if they wanted to or that UFC wouldn't rather be on ESPN than Spike?...There are other org as well. WFA, IFL, Strikeforce, KOC, Rage in the Cage. ESPN doesn't even report on fights much less broadcast them.

think of how Red Bull feels. They invested tens of millions in ads into the American driver search, found their boy, yet F1 is still on speed-ch at 8am and nobody in the States (and I mean nobody) knows who Scott Speed is, nor do they care, because no media reports on F1.
