Default Debate? Is Amir Khan the Next Nas Hameed

When Nas showed up on the scene people were drawn to his style because of his quickness and power. He use to fight some fights with his hands by his waist and would not even defend himself, I remember being so impressed. Even though Amir's career is very young it seems like that star power is moving in his direction, after he has a couple of big fights I think he will become very popular in the mecca of boxing which is the USA.

    No.

The kid is no where near Hamed league.

Naz was a pretty amazing fighter in a whole. I think that Khan is good & all that...but he isn't the same style of fighter nor does he command presence like Naz did.

Arrogant as he was...Naz was a damned fine fighter...he just got shown against Barrera.

He won't look like Nas during the big fights.

Their styles are not exactly the same, although similar.

Khan has defence, quick flurries, and nice movement around the ring.

Sort of Leonard looking in some rounds.

But he doesn't move his body in those strange arranged patterns like Nas.

And he might not have the power to KO against bigger names unlike Nas

who proved he was a good knockout artist against most.

Boxrec.com claim Nas as number one of all-time in the featherweight division.

Im sorry but Khan doesnt have good defence. Boxrec rankings need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

If Khan can achieve half of what Hamed did then he will have done well.

He's not the next Naseem Hamed: He's the first Amir Khan.

Amir Khan? Not in the same class as a young Naz. Naz had more natural talent than Amir, I remember when Naz was robbed in the European final at schoolboy level in Dublin in 1986 - it made headlines. Khan didn't really pick up steam until he was 13-14. After the Euro success Naz was robbed at trials for the national team in the proceeding years because the 'powers that be' didn't agree with his fighting style or some shit. Never a big puncher in the amateurs, Naz went away after a highly successful 1990 and came back in 1992 to win the Junior ABA's with straight KO's (he said he'd been blessed with punching power from Allah) just to make sure he wasn't robbed, and he was going to be nominated for the Olympic trials because he was so special (even though he'd never fought as a senior before) but just could not wait to turn pro and so just got on with it because all his dreams were in the pro game.

I honestly think Naz could of gone to the Olympics and gone all the way.

Naseem was fighting tough durable journeymen like Ricky Beard and some good Mexicans in his early career. He won the European title in less than 20 fights if I remember correctly.

Khan is fighting super-featherweights who are so obviously carefully hand-picked. Notice that his opponents have all been non punchers?

Warren isn't taking any chances is he?

It'll be interesting to see if Amir is European champion within three months of his 20th birthday.

Naz has claim to the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and WBU titles - crazy.

He went crazy on the featherweight division, biggest puncher in the featherweight division's history and one of the biggest pound-for-pound punchers of all-time.
