I lost weight the same way as you did (25kg in a year). I never did it whit sweatsuits or something, but i don't think putting on sweatsuits and stuff is unhealthy IF you look out what you are doing. The meaning is to loose weight, in other words: surplus bodyfat. With wearing extra stuff, you will do that, but you will also loose al lot of nessecary fluids. That means you'll need to drink enough water to keep that in order. You're body also needs the fluids anyways to burn the surplus fat

One of my trainers once told me that sometimes peolpe try to loose weight by just sweating as much as possible without drinking, just to get that extra  two kg off for the bout. So they usually turn to methods like you discribed. But by doing that, you will also loose the nessecary fluids that's between your brain and skull that works like a buffer or spunche. Which quite often has resultet in boxers getting knocked out with soft blows )because the natural spunche is lessend (don't know the correct english word  )) against much weaker opponends. It makes sense to me (knowing a little of fysioligy) So what ever you do to loose weight, keep your bodyfluids at an ok level.

killerqueen's right, sweatsuits are used by fighters for short term weight loss (i.e.to make the weight the day before) by dehydrating through sweating. But as he said, dehydrating depletes the fluid in your skull, which lessens the protection around the brain. I would not recommend using a sweatsuit as a long term strategy to lose weight.

The 'weight' that a sweat suit helps you loose over normal training is just water weight... drink of water and you've put it back on...

They try and sell you some speal about your body using energy to make the sweat evaporate... problem is, if this is true... you'd be better off using this energy to punch more explosively, skip faster, throw more punches etc

You only train as hard as you train...
