    2. Ricardo Lopez

    6. Larry Holmes

    10. Michael Nunn

Whitaker was never underrated as a boxer. All he did was box. A Whitaker victim, Azumah Nelson I think is very underrated.

Calzaghe? Come on? Canizales is more deserving

Pryor was a fighter, not really a boxer. Hill's boxing skills is one of the reasons his ass is still around

I wouldn't of picked some of them other names, but they are deserving. Since I don't really feel like making a list, I'll agree with this one. Changes included

I didn't mean boxers in the purest sense, I meant fighters. style is not in debate here

Alright. Still, I don't really think Whitaker was underrated.  Pryor?  Maybe a little.  Not as much as Canizales or Nelson are.  As for Calzaghe?  Well the thread title says underrated, not overrated.  So Calzaghe belongs no where on this list.

Pretty good list except...Some of these guys were not underrated...

Whitaker...Was pound for pound for a long time..
Ricardo Lopez was flawless went undefeated with only one draw maybe the best little man ever * can't go smaller)

Larry Holmes lacked the presence of a fighter no personality but as champion he ruled supreme without a doubt in anyones mind

Aaron Pryor was perhaps the most feared 140lb fighter of all time ( Not best but feared) and top 3 of all time

    In no particular order...

1.Michael Spinks..For some reason all anyone remembers is his KO loss to Tyson

2.Jerry Quarry-This guy was GOOD he just happened to be stuck with GREATS!!! Ali, Frazier, Foreman ect

3.Michael Moorer-For some reason he is always left off the top guy's list. Great LH hard hitter just didn't have the jaw for the bigger heavyweights

4.Carlos Baldomir-Yes I know the current Welterweight champion. Yes he probably will lose to Floyd but this guy has been around a long time. He is more than just an upset fighter.

5.John Mugabi-The Beast was ruined by Hagler but he was a hell of a fighter who was thrown in too soon the tail end of his career sucked but other than that he was great

6.Micky Ward-The best guy to never win an ABC title. Yes he had a few losses on his record but this guy always stepped up to the plate...Micky's biggest downfall was his trainers lacked the knowledge to fine tune him...Still best hook to the body in the history of the game

7.James Braddock- They call him Cinderella man like his win was a fluke truth is the guy could fight and was tough as nails

8.Archie Moore-All arond known for his craftiness and an all time great yes...But many reall don't truly understand he was the first Foreman...This guy fought for titles way beyond the average fighters years...What was more impressive was the fact they fought more often..More rounds and with lighter gloves

9.Sam Langford-A guy with all the skill in the world but was shut out due to his skin color. Unlike Johnson they weren't giving him a shot at a title. Perhaps one of the most ducked men in the history of the game.

10.Billy Conn--One of the best LH of all time. Only true boxing fans really know how good he was. Billy was best known for his fights with Louis. In which he came damn close to winning the HW crown. Sometimes those fights with the brown bomber overshadow everything else

If I took time I could come up with better but thats about all I got off the top of my head

As great as whitaker was he is never an immediate name in regards to be considered as one the greatest. Usually a person's immediate thought process conjures up the names roy jones, leonard, duran, ali, ray robinson it is only when one thinks hard that whitaker's name is remembered. I believe his style played a role in his detriment. and as for calzaghe, how many of his fights have you watched, if you are commenting due to his level of opposition then one has to question roy jones's greatness too. Calzaghe is a full packaged fighter who has everything from boxing skills, power, chin, speed, foot movement. He has a right to be on this list I believe because of talent and due to the fact that his greatness fell victim to his shallow division.

Well my list is of a blend of fighters who proved their greatness and still haven't received their proper dues and fighters who had talent and capabilities but are only rememberred for their shortcomings

Having the full package don't make you great. Donald Curry and Hector Camacho are two guys that had the whole package. Not many people would call them great. And while you question Jones resume, he can still say he beat James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Virgil Hill. 3 Hall of Famers. Names Calzaghe can not even come close to matching. Joe is a fighter with talent who has a lot to prove. That's it. He's nowhere near great. And he sure as hell, ain't underrated.
