    Default Corrales-Casamayor: Early picks

    Predictions?

I'm surprised at how many people when they talk about this fight mention that Casamayor's been looking bad lately and that he's shot, when Corrales is the one who's taken so much punishment over his career. If anybody's more likely to be shot it would be Chico IMO.

I was surprised that the Kid Diamond fight was competitive even though I thought Cas won but I still think that Chico's falling off to a greater extent and I'm gonna go with Casamayor by decision over a sluggish Chico, dropping him at least once.

I'm glad to see him get a big shot but I don't know why they're moving him up to 160 against a huge middleweight. I mean obviously the safe bet is Taylor but either way I'll be watching and I'll probably sacrifice a small animal (maybe a chicken) to the boxing gods on the day of the fight.

CC I agree, people forget that Chico is coming off a brutal KO loss a year ago, plus I imagine it's hard for him to make 135 as it is..

    CC to both of you

The weight is part of the reason why I think he'll be sluggish.

Good points,I like both fighters alot but I think the rest will have done Corrales good and the point about Joel being more shot is more important in this situation because they won't go to war,Casamayor will try to box and Corrales will attempt to land the bombs,he won't be taking too many bombs himself, although Casamayor is a sharp puncher, this won't be a JLC-CHICO type fight and remember,Corrales was KTFO by a fricking welterweight!. I think, judging by Joel's last few performances,Corrales wins but this surely is Joel's last chance so I expect a sprited fight and this will most likely be Corrales last fight at the weight too. I favour Corrales slightly.

Casamayor doesn't take a punch as well as he used to. He is wider with his shots, his defensive skills have declined. Casamayor may be less shot, but he's shot in the areas he needs to defeat Corrales again.

Casamayor might not take a shot as well as he use to, but Corrales has never been able to take a shot. I think Castillo has pretty much ruined Chico. He hasn't fought in a year and his last fight consisted of 4 lopsided rounds in which he brutally knocked out. I don't see how that can be ignored. Casamayor hasn't looked great but he's been active. Which is important for somebody his age. Corrales will come in and take Casamayor lightly and get stopped in the process. Casamayor will take the series 2-1. That should really be 3-0.

Sorry, iv just pasted this from another thread.....

I saw Casamayor in his last fight... he looked preeeety bad
Even, in studio pundit Corrales was promted to comment on his display... Which leads me to believe why this fight is even taking place.

Corrales must obviously feel that Casa is faded.... And i agree. I think that skill wont prevail next saturday however i doubt that the fireworks will rain down to heavilly.

I expect a fight full of messy exchanges, off-timing and complaing (due to the occasional headbutts, elbows, holding etc).

UD Corrales (SD at worst, mabe with a point deduction or two).

By the way.... Starr. Are you on the toilet?
