    Default My take on Calzaghe-Bika

Well aside from Bika being a power punching crazy man Joe did well.

Calzaghe showed off, he has great handspeed, he has a good left hand and his defense is decent.

He looked like a left handed white Roy Jones Jr.....(that being said Roy would have whupped his ass, try to copy THE MAN and you get blasted just ask James Toney!!!) Joe doesn't have great 1 punch power but it's good enough to do damage.

I think at this point in time Calzaghe would humiliate Mikkel Kessler. The real fight that needs to be made is Kessler-Lacy but until Lacy gets back in the ring Kessler-Calzaghe would be good enough.

OMG Lyle. You're not....suggesting....that Joe Calzaghe....can box? He might be a half decent fighter? Ah, I'm glad you did at least watch the fight, and saw something in him. I'll settle for that cautious praise for Joe, and have a cc on me

    Fair comments, Lyle.

this is the third time I watch a Calzaghe fight
and frankly I think the man is a freak of nature

    he is extremely quick
    he has a great chin
fair defense...his quickness takes care of the rest
    deceptively strong
AND he never seems to get tired

despite him having a poor fight, I was still impressed

the only thing I think is his weakness from the fights that I have seen is that he gets easily rattled when challenged.

also the hot dogging has got to go..such blatant constant disrespect for his opponent Bika made me root against him

once or twice hot dogging is funny but his constant put down of Bika was stupid.

He obviously could have outboxed Bika all night if he had kept to the outside...I think he was just playing around for the crowd a lot.

That's only the third fight of Joe's I've seen, as well. I had no idea he had that kind of hand speed.
I think most guys are smart not to want to fight Joe.

Ah, if only you two were here on Saturday night, it would have helped me a lot as I fought all the Calzaghe critics single handed. I'm like Gladiator, but verbally and in text, and instead of fighting other Gladiators, I fight Calzaghe critics. And instead of just fighting, I argue semantics and good points in his favour. So not really like Gladiator at all....

So are you saying that wheras Maximus was fighting to avenge the murder of his wife and son, you are writing to avenge the dishonour handed out to a man from Wales cos frankly that sounds a little bit gay to me :P

Husband to no murdered wives, father to no murdered sons, and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next. Indeed, it wasn't the best metaphor I've ever come up with. But still, I will stick to my guns, and as they've started to backtrack, i must stick to them and backtrack myself
