Default more questions for our american friends?

right so another q fo our pals across the water...
    so im 17 right...
and im thinking... say im in america how wierd would life be?! i mean all the cats of my age would be in school and stuff, and even thou i still feel i look and act about ten years older then most 17 18 year olds you see in america, its highly likely that i couldnt have a drink etc.. also what age do ya'll finish school?
cos we sposed to leave school at 16 assuming you dont go into further education! and we get jobs and go make some money, get a place n stuff from this age onwards.. so really the questions are..
can people of and around the age of 16 17 18 get jobs and cribs in america?
why do americans of that age look so young?
and im pretty sure that most cats from 16 onwards... dont wait untill they are 21!! to drink do they?
i mean how do they even party? lol
i think its fair to say ive been pretty lucky since the age limit here is 18 to drink..
and i have been drinking for at least 4 odd years, i mean whats with that?
could it be that i can drink any american teenager under the table whilst not even being legally allowed to drink over here? lol

Americans are usually in school till 17 or 18, this is after 7 years of grammer school, 2 years junior high, and 4 years of high school. You can drop out of high school at 16 and get a GED (General Education Degree), but it is not looked at as the same level as actually completing 4 years of high school. Then you can (if you wish) move onto College to further educate yourself. LEGAL drinking age is 21 but is routinely ignored by anyone under that age. The only people that obey it are the Liquor stores and the police. But you can legally have a drink with your parents, but only with them present. Hope this answers everything.

Like was said, you typically graduate high school when you're 18. Then if you plan on getting a "good" job college is a must (except for the very slim % who succed without it). Age restrictions don't really matter. In highschool a lot of people go drinking on the weekends, lot's of weed to smoke and other drugs to do as well, lol.. Also, I'm 21 now and never had much trouble getting into bars before, it's easy and cheap to get a fake ID and almost everyone I knew had them.

College is pretty much a joke too depending on what degree you want. I'm getting a degree in psychology right now from a fairly highly respected university and for the most part just have to cram the night before to get a good grade.

What do you mean hard to find work? It's easy to find something that'll get you $7-$15 an hour, but you need a degree to make over $40,000 a year (for the most part).

Never had to use the health care aspect so dont know! But I know you need insurance b/c it's impossible to pay a hospital bill without one.. I've even heard of some people going to Canada or someplace in Asia (can't think of where) b/c they can pay for an operation out of pocket and it costs less than half of what it would in the US for just as good quality.

America is really the "Land of Capitalism" not the land of oppourtunity. There are lot's of underlying fault's to the system...everything is controlled by the media, loss of sense of community, and lots of cut-throat business tactics to maximize profits no matter what the cost. Anyone CAN make it to the top, but you have to walk on a lot of people to get there.

In all honesty all countries in some ways are the same, theres some type of leaders, religions, etc. etc.

I question what happened Sept. 11, I question who shot JFK, I question the decisions that my gov. makes but all in all theres is NO other country I would rather live in then here in the States...

pretty much like it was already said the drinking age is pretty much ignored. There is always a way to get liquor.

the way we do it in Cali is 6 years of grammar school 3 years of middle school and 4 years of high school. Those that want to go to higher ed can either go to a two year college and then transfer to a university or they can go straight to a university if they have good grades.

me and cutmemick have the good fortune of living in So Cal and like him there is no place I would rather live. I got the ocean 30 minutes away. If I want to ski the mountains are an hour away. If I want to go to the desert it is an hour and a half away. One summer we went skiing in the morning and by nightfall we had a bonfire at the beach. It was pretty cool. Los Angeles is 40 minutes away and San Diego is an hour and a half away, two great cities with lots to do.
Mexico is two hours a way, and the beach cities there are also pretty fun.

    and lets not forget

    VEGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!!!!!

when I am down and out there is only one plaace to gooooooooooooooooo

its called las veeeeegas Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas Veeeeeeeeeegaaaaaaaaas

    Laaaaaaaaaaaass Vegas.

If by "free" you mean paid for by taxes then yeah it's called Medicare/Medicaid

America has lots of stuff for cheap, yeah the age limits are shit and are very seldom paid attention to.

Yes it's quite easy to get a job here ESPCIALLY if you speak spanish as more of our laborers are of Hispanic countries.

America is what ever you make of it. If you put the time in and do whatever is necessary to have a good/great life then you can have it. But if you sit around and wait for it to be handed to you then expect to be located in one of our many fine ghettos.

People with no jobs aren't paying taxes with their money are they Lyle?

They get the same Health care as anybody else in this country. What's wrong with Spanish speaking labourers Lyle? have they stopped you getting promoted or something? :P
