    Default Warren plans Calzaghe's schedule

Promoter Frank Warren plans to announce a "big fight" for super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe next week.
The bout will probably be in Cardiff in February, with Warren saying he hopes to secure an American opponent.

If Calzaghe wins, Warren says a "mega fight" will follow in the summer, maybe against Jermain Taylor in the USA.

The news could scupper the immediate hopes of Denmark's WBC & WBA champion Mikkel Kessler of a unification bout with Wales' WBO & IBF king Calzaghe.

WBC & WBO middleweight champion Taylor, 28, is - like Calzaghe and Kessler - undefeated, and holds two wins over Bernard Hopkins.

Calzaghe met Taylor's promoter Lou Di Bella on a trip to the US earlier this week, where he made an impression on the American media.

WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli will be on Calzaghe's February undercard, that is set to be in Britain with TV rights sold to the US.

    ===============

Once again, Beelzebub, who is often known by his earthly name Frank Warren, has gone and said that it is not his next fight, but the one after that that is going to be his mega-fight. When precisely is this mega fight going to appear? FFS, this february fight was promised as being the super-fight itself. Man, sometimes I'm concerned that Frank Warren's only ambition in life is to have a fighter retire undefeated. WHEN is he going to be ready in your mind Frank? What is your excuse this time?

My personal concern for Calzaghe, is the FW is trying to wrap him in cotton wool, is going to turn him into a sheep. He needs to be let off the leash against some quality opposition, this bs of "the next fight will be the mega-fight" just won't wash, Frank, get your thumb out of your ass, quit settling for the easy money that will keep your company afloat, and take a risk. Put Joe in against the world=class oppostion that the world wants. Be that Mikkel Kessler, RJJ, Bernard Hopkins or Jermaine Taylor, I'm sure there is a pick em fight there for Calzaghe, but at this rate he'll be 50 by the time he gets to it.

Guys tread carefully with your comments,I'll leave it at that

Franks quite wrong, there is only one mega fight out there for Joe and that is against Kessler. Now is the only time that they will be able to fight for the undisputed title with all belts in the ring at the same time. If this opportunity passes by it will get buried beneath mandatories (Calzaghe more than likely to vacate). Taylor isnt a mega fight, its a good fight, but not a mega fight. Which worryingly begs the question..................what will Frank offer up as a big fight?
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

    Agreed 100%.

Let me say this...being a fan of both Calzaghe & Kessler...if that fight doesn't happen & it's on Joe's account...he's scared of the man...bottom line.

If you reign in on top of 168 for 20 defenses & you won't unify due with the other man on top...fwock that shit...YOU ARE SCARED!

I hate to over step my "senior fellow mod" but maybe this thread should be re-moved due to the fact that Warren & associates do read?

No DIS on that to the poster...my bwoy super...but I recall that man getting a bit beligerant with the bwoss over such statements in the past.

    Just a thought.

Warren is being an over protective a***? And so I must tone it down?

It aint rocket science....Warren has it in him to make a fight. Hahahaha.

Calzaghe is the best in his division....no doubts....

But whether Warren will let this happen is another story...

    Calzaghe: Joppy it could be...

    Go Warren!!!

This is one of the major issues with boxing today. There is a big unification fight to be made but it wont happen. For what ever freakin reason it is. This just makes me sick. I really hope that Warren is using this as a ploy to get Kessler in the ring on more of their terms, but something tells me its not. Joe has a lot of talent but it is going to be wasted against fighters not close to his level.
