Ike won't get in my way, vows Winky

Ricky Hatton insists he is still at the peak of his powers - and will prove it against Juan Urango and then Jose Luis Castillo.

The Hitman will fulfil his dreams when he fights for his old IBF light-welterweight title in Las Vegas in January, after a brief forray into the welterweight division.

Hatton struggled to a points win over Luis Collazo but is adamant he has not gone off the boil.

"He wants to be remembered as an all time great and its hard to criticise Floyd with what he's done, but you can't be an all time great having fought people like Baldomir."

And Urango is better than Baldomir? Please, Ricky's opponents have been much weaker than PBF's.

bgordon. hatton said he would love to be remembered as an all time great but i think he is fine to criticise mayweather. simply because hatton isn't making anything like the crazy claims of being the greatest ever like what floyd is doing. and if hatton does fight the guys he's talking about meeting and beating them (i.e the castillo, mayweather and possibly cotto) then he will be remembered as an all time great. but if floyd carrys on making claims about being the best and better than so and so and then goes and retires after his next fight he wont be an all time great. i think hatton raised some fair points and he is humble enough not to make any wild claims

I don't see why you all give Hatton such a hard time. He makes weight. He doesn't look like a ghost like Morales has been looking. He is rich and he likes beer and good food. What is the fucking crime in that?? He works whenever he needs to.

No crime, it's just hard to imagine he'll be as good as he has been when he baloons up in weight in between every fight.. A great boxer works all the time, because they strive to be as good as they possibly can.. Hatton making weight and training when he needs to is hardly the same as someone who is always in great condition like a MAyweather or Hopkins.. If he doesn't dominate Urango, then he basically has very little chance of making his mark in Vegas... And he obviously knows this, regardless of what he says. And for him to criticize Mayweather fighting Baldomir is pretty damn pathetic considering his last two fights..

Cos he's going to burn him self out by having to yoyo in weight and would be a good site fitter than what he already is come fight night if he was able to dedicate more of his training time to conditioning rather than having to split it with fat loss...

    and it's funny...

    Hope this helps.

I see what you are saying mate but the fact he turns into a sumo between fights only tells me he aint 100% serious about his boxing, think about it... I mean he has a fight and thinks nice one I can get down the pub for a fair few weeks and eat a shed load of kebabs..if he had the same dedication as someone lke mayweather then he would be twice the fighter that he is...im just not sure he is hungry enough too achieve the kind off status he thinks he deserves.

Am I the only one who remembers reading the Joe C. & Hatton will take over the US a while back on how they were gonna take us by surprise and become MEGA stars....

So I take it the Collazo & Bika fights were both pre-coming out parties...... Ah! now I get it, never mind my previous statement...

I think Hatton and Calzaghe's teams have blown it big time. Should have struk when the iron was hot. Hatton should have been straight over to the US after the Kostya fight and should have been in with a fighter as big as Cotto (although i understand Arum wasn't interested in a fight with Hatton just yet...). What you have to remember tho, is hatton went after Maussa because he wanted to unify at light-welter to get a shot at Mayweather. Mayweather moves up and picks a good opponent to look good against (Mitchell) HBO picks an opponent and Hatton looks awful. Fact is if HBO wanted hatton to look good they shouldn't have put him in with a tall rangy southpaw. Did they not see the Magee fight? Bad decision!!!

The management of calzaghe is possibly even worse. Goes to show hatton might not have been better served staying with warren. Again straight after the Lacy fight Calzaghe should have been in with a big name like Kessler or even beyer. A win over beyer would have set him up big style. No he's so low on options he's fightin Manfredo. A complete joke and waste of time. It goes to show that there's more money to be made in appealing to the casual piss head boxing fan.
