I Don't care who he has or hasn't fought, i've been following Cotto for a while now and to me he is getting stronger in each fight and looking devastating with it.

I agree Cotto has looked very impressive, I told yall he'd kick that Quintanna's ass! But who named him boxer of the year? Wasn't Ring magazine was it?

Cotto is that next dude that Pretty Girl Floyd will avoid fighting at all costs.

3 weeks ago you were screaming about margarito, then he got exposed...........

now youve jumped from one bandwagon to another.

ive liked cotto since he was on shobox....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, but let me tell you this......quintana is far from mayweather.

if you want to see how pbf would do against cotto, watch the cotto/malignaggi fight and amplify all of malignaggis strengths by 20 and cut his weakness's into 1/3's.......

honestly, bro................. hows that fight turn out if it were to happen??

but at least we agree on zab "super" judah

He's done well, not sure who else deserves it more, Manny Pacquiao maybe?

It would have been Winky if he would have got the Taylor decision, or Baldimor if he'd have put up a better showing against Floyd

His fights are never a big thing because of his style, he may have great talent but he never uses it to please his fans and finish fighters off in a way that many other fighters would if they had his ability. Cotto deserves it for a brilliant first fight at welter and constant improvement from fight to fight.

    Well deserved win for Cotto.

Thing is...I'm kinda on track with SSSP...Floyd's beaten just as game a set of opponents as Cotto...he deserves some love too...but Floyd, IWO, aint gonna get much love from any writers until he drops Hatton, Oscar, or Margarito...then they'll come up with another set of names that Mayweather has to conquer to ever be respected.

But he never really fights like a true fighter and has no passion or desire to destroy his opponent like top class fighters. He has never been regarded as a 'warrior' and for a good reason. There are too many other fighters that are better value for money and way more exiting to watch than PBF.

So how would he ever win boxer of the year?

That's a bit or short sighted in my opinion...but then again...boxing varies from person to person.

Many people just love to hate on Floyd & other technical boxers.

Sure it says a lot that a guy like Cotto (of whom I'm a huge fan) goes out there & fights & get's dropped & shows weaknesses & strengths all in one showing & then wins the fight...but he's a fighter...& that's the way it goes for him.

That's what you like? Sure...no biggie...I can buy that...but you have to look at it from my point of view.

Floyd goes out & boxes...truly boxes...picks his shots, throws, & pretty much always lands on the button. He's conservative...but brutally accurate & he often puts on a master class show. Everything is smooth, beautiful, & on the money.

I like that. I love Floyd, Wright, Hopkins, & the likes...many do not like that...but they are the last of a fleeting bunch of boxers.

It's just opinion...but when your as good as they are...many don't like it...but they nearly always win.

On top of the skills, show, & accuracey...I like that too.

Oh yeah, he is a fantastic fighter with great skills i would never dispute that in a million years. I think (as many do) he is one of the most technically gifted figthers in the world. My point was, even when he is CLEARLY superior to his opposition (winning the first 6 rounds or so with ease) he never tries to stop them or make the fight exiting but sits back and wins on points.

I fully get what your saying though Wacko, he just lacks that killer instinct for me that many people love, including me.

Don't know if someone responded to you yet... But just incase...
PBF can't win THIS award cause these are the "Premios Fox Sports" which are handed out ONLY to athletes of Latin America...

How about you look at it this way. How talented is he that no opponent lately has been able to make it so he HAS to do that.

Mayweather does what he has to do to win and make it the easiest fight possible for him which is the best strategy for a boxer, if you go out pleasing the fans you could lose a close fight and win fans and lose a title, or retain your title and add to your legacy and get booed. What makes fighters like Hopkins great is that he never fought for the fans he didn't care if they booed or cheered him what he cared was that his arm was raised by the end of the fight, same for Mayweather. And you can knock his "lack of greatness for not wanting to finish an opponent off" but isnt it up to the opponent to press him effectively and put him in a situation where he HAS to? And if they haven't then thats how GREAT Mayweather is imo. Mayweather does what he has to do, and the fact that no one has forced him to really have to dig deep yet shows how great a fighter he is no matter how he fights. I agree and think Mayweather should have won boxer of the year.
