Default What if you're favorite boxer was a basketball player?

There are a lot of parallels, so here we go, I hope everyone knows these basketball players...

Floyd Mayweather Jr. = Tim Duncan. Clearly, he is recognized as the most skilled in his profession. He is year in and year out regarded as an MVP candidate every year. Unfortunately, his game really doesn't always excite crowds and TV audiences. Very consistent and fundamentally, the best. Amongst the best, he is one of the most underappreciated.

Oscar De La Hoya = Shaquille O' Neal. The most popular figure in the sport. A champion time and time again. Unfortunately, questions are always raised about his desire to stay in top condition and at the top of his game. Also had a stint in music that wasn't well received. Very likeable and entertaining, has great mainstream marketability. Ticket seller and TV rating gold mine. Years past his prime, but when determined, shows flashes of his former greatness.

Wladimir Klitschko = Dirk Nowitski. Outside of being very big, he shows an amazing skill set that makes him virtually unstoppable. He often has great performances and can completely alter an opponent's game plan for stopping him. He's a hard matchup for anyone. One of the true overseas stars in his sport. But critics have always called him "soft" and he often disappears and doesn't perform that well under pressure. This has always kept him from reaching the super elite level in his sport.

Winky Wright = Chauncey Billups. Also, one of the most skilled figures in the sport. A true leader with technical expertise that is unparalled and shows great generalmanship. Was generally unknown by the mainstream public for many years in his profession due to politics. It took a big time performance on the biggest stage of his life to finally get the recognition that he always felt he deserved. Isn't the most exciting person to watch, but he just keeps winning.

Manny Pacquiao = Kobe Bryant. The biggest star in his sport. One of LA's true attractions. Has major mainstream marketability. The most exciting figure in his profession to watch. Capable of putting up dominating, unstoppable performances at any time. For some reason, he is always involved in power struggles and always has a ton of distractions. Always in the public eye. Will be the most exciting and dominant figure in his sport for years to come.

Miguel Cotto = Lebron James. He is the heir apparent. His skills, although being very young, are very technically sound. Even though, he is very sound, he is still very exciting to watch. The hype around him is simply amazing. The only reason he isn't seen as the best is because he really hasn't been on a really big stage yet and he's still very young. Although he has met his initial hype, he still has more to prove in his profession. Unbelievably, he's only gonna get better.

Joe Calzaghe = Gilbert Arenas. One of the most versatile figures in his sport. Has great fundamentals as well and has proven that he belongs amongst the best. Although insiders think that he actually might be one of the Top 5 players in his sport, the mainstream public really doesn't know a lot about him because he hasn't had a lot of TV appearances and he has in an unpopular market. If you actually watch him perform, he's fairly exciting though. He's finally trying to attain that popularity through recent TV appearances but something is missing from him being a true star.

Antonio Tarver = Rasheed Wallace. A great media attraction. Always capable of delivering funny and controversial sound bytes to the media. Some see him as an arrogant loudmouth. He actually still possesses a great skill set although he is past his prime and he has been a champion in the past. He has a habit of making huge bets and guarantees that he can not always actually perform. Has a past history of drug abuse. Although he is very arrogant, for some reason, he's still fairly popular.

I know pretty much nothing about basketball and wont pretend I do so the comparisons I cant really comment on but even without them a great write up on each boxer and very well thought out - liked it and agree.

i like the "new" lakers (i always hated them in the past cause im a clips fan)

kwame brown and andrew bynum is a sick combo at center, and two years from now they make a serious run at the championship (bynum at center, and push kwame over to the 4 spot with kobe at sg )

    not insane at all..............

we know kobe is gonna be kobe and having bryant alone with phil jackson will always make them a possibility.
imo, if lamar odom plays as good as he has in the past, then theyre 2nd round in the playoffs guaranteed.

it all boils down to brown and bynum................. wicked POTENTIAL with both guys, and if both of them play up to 75% of where they should be playing then the lakers are without a doubt a darkhorse nba champ contender.

ill even lay a 20 on it
