Default Question for those who've ever trained a fighter

Why the hell but that fat chump Buddy McGirt let Gatti carry his left hand so low in his fight against PFF? To look good? (right up until the time his eyes were swelling shut). We had a trainer at our gym whose mantra when one of his fighters lost was, "it done matta he lost. he LOOT good." Seems like Buddy let Gatti style the fight more than actually fight it.

BTW, that trainer is now in the joint for his second drug trafficking offense. Now sure how many years he got though.

Never personally had my own fighter ..Which i could say ..I trained him..
But i worked with a fair few good kids
Like between 11 and 14 odd year olds.. Its a pretty good age when you get the right kids
None of this little chavvy kid crap... Jus genuinely promising young nice kids..
Test em out a bit.. See what works for em and did a fair bit of gentle sparring with em..
Its very satisfying training young ones in a weird way..lol
    Peace

good stuff. the only way they'll learn to bring them straight back is for the trainer to return fire when they don't. well, that and actually getting popped in the kisser during sparring.

I liked those kids..They were game as hell...
Used to have em sparring wit the exoerianced lads before we'd let em in with eachother before we let em sparr eachother..Cos they just loved to bang eachother round lol...
Also used em as moving medicine balls... Used to get em to just open up on us with body punches for a two minute round at a time as part of the circuit.. :P ..Little bastards used to love it when we didnt hit back

AGREED. Gatti fought THE ABSOLUTE WORST way against a Mayweather. The worst. I was one of the few who didn't pay attention to Gatti's heart. I paid more attention to his dumb strategy to begin with.

Many "intelligent" and "experts" believe in McGirt enough for him to get respectable pay in the field.

I wouldn't let him train me.

And he's in jail now? Did I hear right?

Its the principle we were talking about on interval training Psychodynamics if after 3 years of doing ityou change the principle of a theme, youvell have problems through latent thought process the idea is already there improve on it dont try changing it. The biomechanics will suffer the body wont cope
Pain lasts a only a minute, but the memory will last forever....

Gyro, yeah, he went to the slammer. (the trainer at our gym, not Buddy MdGirt! )

Scrap, so you're saying it was just a simple matter of muscle memory, right? McGirt trained Gatti into a style he couldn't alter during the fight? Is that it?

Well any trainer that teaches a guy to leave his left hand by his waist is an idiot, especially when the opponent is Mayweather. This is why I asked the question do great fighters make great trainers or vice versa.

Gatti's an experienced fighter with his own choices to make in the ring. I don't think he was trained to keep his left low it wouldn't make sense.
