    Default Margarito returning 3/3

He's coming back in a 10 rounder, probably against a bum, to stop any rustiness/check the injury. I heard a guy named Andrey Tsurkan is being mentioned as is Estrada. A keep busy fight I guess.

I read somewhere, that that's exactly his plan.

He has a world championship belt. Why is there never any criticism when he is so inactive against quality fighters.

this is ridiculous. i never really bought into the "margarito's ducking williams" thing before, but you can't read this any other way. if he weren't afraid he might lose to williams, he wouldn't need to relinquish his belt in order to "preserve" himself for a may/june cotto fight.

For those who think Margarito is ducking Williams, go to link below for my reply.

Note that William's promoter Dan Goosen hasn't made an offer to Antonio yet. At least a Nice and Fair offer that has been made public. It should be a nice and fair offer, considering Tony's injuries and the competitiveness of the fight.
It appears that Goosen is hiding behind the "Tony is ducking Paul" argument to pressure Team Tony to lower their standards for a fair offer. As of now, Cotto IS the nice and fair offer.

I really cant see Margarito beating Williams. There will be no fight with Cotto for him.

Id say Tony beats Williams, and im not a massive Tony fan, Williams is not polished enough yet for tony he needs a couple more step up fights before this. Idont think sharmba to margarito is a good idea looking at who hes fought before. I also think if tony is waiting for cotto, he needs to test himself more in his next fight, because i see miguel beating him convincingly whenever they fight. The sooner the better for tony, as cotto is getting better and better and looks a mature and strong fighter at 147 right now.

Tsurkan is the guy that TKO'd Camacho jr only cause the ref stopped it for Camacho not throwing any punches.... Margarito should smoke this guy he's an open target, although his chin was very solid against Camacho but the kid was relentless.. Margarito has way more power and shoul get him out of there within 3

Estrada could give him problems, I mean he's been in there against Mosely and Citron so its not his 1st rodeo Margarito TKO 6th round

I don't see how anyone thinks Tony has a shot at beating Williams. Tony isn't a really big power puncher, he's just a good puncher. Paul Williams is taller, faster, with longer reach, has a decent chin, and probably throws the most punches per round at 147. Williams IMO is lacking a bit of defense, but he's just one or two quality wins away from reaching the elite level. Tony is a big slow guy with no defense, no footwork, nothing. Tony throws a lot of punches but he's wide open after every punch he throws. He's used to being the guy bigger guy but he'll be in for a rude awakening against Williams. Tony is clearly ducking this guy. But in Tony's defense, I think this has more to do with Arum wanting to secure a big time fight with Cotto and Tony wanting to finally get a good sized paycheck than it does with Tony actually being scared of Williams.

Like Tony is polished Tony, fundamentally is one of the worst boxers I've seen with a championship. That's no joke. Punches with his arms down, lunges in with punches, often out of position after punching, has absolutely no defense whatsoever, hardly uses footwork and is basically a one dimensional flat footed fighter with a good chin. Gimme a break. It doesn't matter, Tony is either fighting Williams and losing, or fighting this bum, then fighting Cotto and losing. That's it. I don't think anybody will argue the fact that Tony is just a basic, average boxer.

But the point is that Williams is Margarito's MANDATORY. If Williams never makes an offer at all, it still goes to a purse bid. The ball is just as much in Tony's court as in Williams's--more so, really. If he's happy to keep his belt and have the fight, then it behooves his team to get out there and try to negotiate something better than the standard split. Instead, he's doing nothing and just saying he'll vacate the belt he's held longer than any other WW champ rather than take the fight. Walks like a duck....
