That articles not up to date on the ITV situation
they were well up for it...Mark Sharman, ITV's Director of Sport, has said he would love to see a match up between Britain's two best cruiserweights – and revealed it isn't ITV who have thrown a spanner in the works.
“I would love to see Enzo Maccarinelli take on David Haye. It's a great fight between two big punchers that all punters would love to see on ITV.”
BritishBoxing.net revealed earlier in the week that several internet forums have asked fans to petition ITV to ensure the exciting match went ahead. David Haye's team had issued a statement which said Sports Network was insisting on further options on Haye under direction from the television company.
In a nutshell, ITV was being made out to be the bad guys in the breakdown of negotiations.
“We have been getting some stick via email,” conceded Sharman. “But it's simply inaccurate to blame ITV. We have a contract with the promoter which in this case is Frank Warren and Sports Network. We don't get involved in the negotiations and we haven't on this occasion either.”
David Haye's team have said they are willing to accept Sports Network's initial offer of a one-off fight between the European champion and the Welsh WBO champion.
As ITV's top man has come out in support of the match, perhaps this makes what is an eagerly anticipated showdown more likely. http://www.britishboxing.net/news_20...carinelli.html
....It's not really difficult to get your head round why this fight isn't happening![]()
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Heres a fight we all want to see but I dont mind that its not happening just yet. As long as they both keep winning they'll surely meet further down the line. I'd like to see Haye pick up a world title first then they could get it on in what would be a huge unification fight.
Haye wont be in the CW division long enough for this fight to happen.WORSE LUCK!Originally Posted by beerjelly

Good point actually, didnt think of that. Although it could still happen, a couple more fights each and then they could still meet before Haye moves up. Hayes always said that he wants to be a champion at cruiser before he goes to Heavyweight. He could go for Enzo as his last fight at cruiser and that way if he loses hes got the excuse of being weight drained.Originally Posted by porkypara
