Anybody know how this guy is doing after the Darchinyan fight?
Last I read was that on the way to the hospital he was in and out of consciousness... Fightnews said they'd keep up us updated on his condition but it's been 24 hours and so far nothing.

He underwent immediate surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain . He survived the surgery I'm told
Here is a full update on his condition as of 11pm sunday night eastern time

Thanks for that guys.
I sincerely hope he's going to be OK. If anything happens I hope the matchmaker (King) is held accountable.
There was talk on here as to how a guy with 14 losses was going to cope with Darchinyan's power. Lets hope that talk was not warranted.
I don't pray but I'll be thinking of Victor tonight.

I blame his corner for not pulling him out earlier

Always a real shit when incidents like this happen, I just hope he pulls through with as little damage as possible....he did awfully well to last as long as he did!!!!
anyone with and eye for boxing, knew that 30 sec into the fight. Burgos had no shot. Burgos coming up in weight with already 14 losses on the ledger , against an undefeated Champion , a guy that can punch with the Welterweights. Horrible match making , horrible Ref job.. a real shame that ! an easily preventable situation . fucking shameful across the board ! how many times did the little guy get hit on the back of the head, while he was bending down on the inside ?.

I agree Lord's gym. They don't have to put guys in that always are legitimate opponents, but at least someone who is the same size and halfass competitive. It was a one sided punchfest.

Agreed.. cc in 24... its a trend your starting to see more of... Below average fighters coerced into moving up in weight to fight top Tier guys, the idea is to make the Top guys look better then they really are . . I say put the chicken shit bastards in there with other Top Guys already at that weight. fucking ridiculous the whole system !Originally Posted by boozeboxer

its one thing if you have been off for years and need the work, because your skills are rusty and have diminished , or if your a young fighter that is on the build and learning... but once your a seasoned established fighter / champion , you need to fight guys that are matched- up and competitive in a way that the danger element is reduced.![]()

To be fair the guy was a former world champion and ranked number 3 in the world at the weight.
It's tragic what happened to him but you can't blame the matchmakers.

It is always upsetting to see this thing happen in the ring, once again the Referee should have stopped it earlier or his corner should have thrown in the towel. Would Jon Schorle have thrown it back it out I wonder? I still say Mickey " I'm in the spotlight Vann" was wrong in the Katsidis fight.
When a guy is beaten so early and has no chance then stop the bloody fight!!!
well its the whole system,, Burgos becomes # 3 contender at the new weight by beating a guy that is 6-4-1 and then has a bout with a guy that is 20-12 , who had lost his last 6 fights ? how is that #3 ranked material ? its typical Don King bullshit ! , its dangerous matchmaking. just looking at the stats alone tell you so . 5'0 fighter fighting a guy that is 5"6 power puncher .. Agreed mate. I saw that match, and thought to myself, if I was a corner man and Vann tossed my towel back out . I would have just jumped right in the fucking ring and would have done a Lou Duva impression all up in Vann's grillOriginally Posted by glennf
