the man has been a great warrior, he has given us some great fights over the years and if he does retire no one can say he hasn't done enough in his great carreer to stamp home a legacy of greatness...............i think he should retire he has nothing to prove

He has nothing left to prove and if he wants to retire he should alot of people say if a fighter is thinking retirement he's already retired i would have liked to see him wind back the clock one last time against Pacman and if he could defeat him what a way to go out

    Good

I was surprised he had enough left to find the performance he did (in defeat) against Marquez. No shame in going out after an excellent, memorable fight like that.

Having said that he wont retire of course.

I truly feel bad for Marco. In my opinion he got shafted in the Marquez fight. I give him such tremendous respect for even fighting Marquez. i think his plan was to fight Pac for his final fight...and when that didn't fall through, being the warrior he is...he stepped up to fight Marquez. Now Marquez seems like he will get a chance to have a rematch with Pac while Barrera has the taste of a bitter/controversial fight maybe going into retirement. Whatever he decides to do...the man is a LEGEND.

I said it before and I'LL say it again, even though I'd root for MAB in a fight with Pac,at his stage,Manny would eat him alive. I think he should retire,he has nothing left to prove and I do NOT want to see him used as a stepping stone by younger fighters.

Barrera fought a wonderful fight against JMM and if he wants to retire now, then fair enough....

You are going too far by saying he would be a stepping stone for younger fighters!!

El Gamo, I think you are underestimating Marco. ANY young fighter would have their hand more than full against Barrera. As for Pac, i have enough faith in Marco's ability and intelligence (not to mention i truly feel he wasn't anywhere close to his best in their first fight), to see a rematch being a great challenge for Manny. It also seems that Manny has lost his concentration (movies, politics, music, etc.)...and anything short of a tremendously prepared Pac, could more than lose against Marco. This is all a mute point. If Barrera was to retire...all respect to him. He has provided us with so many great memories. But if he was to fight on one more time...he would most certainly not be a punching bag for ANYONE.

No no,sorry poor wording on my part, what I meant was I rather he stopped now at the top, where he belongs rather than hang around and become one of those guys used as stepping stones.

Sorry, poor wording although I stnad by my prediction, the Pac monster eats MAB alive in the rematch. If Marco can't bang with JMM for 12 rounds,he' cant with Pac either imo. Manny's biggest enemy right now is himself but all these things were being said before his 3rd fight with EM too,and he destroyed Morales. He'll destroy Solis too,via KO and he'll beat anyone else he faces for a long long time, except possibly JMM.

I wouldn't blame Barrera a bit if he decided to retire. He has had so many fights and rematchs already. He's proven himself time and time again. I don't even like the miserable fucker and I'm sayin this. I was rootin for Marquez to school him, and I feel Marquez did win the fight, but not in spectacular fashion, it was far from a blow out, Barrera dropped him HARD, and Marquez never could return the favor or get back to doing as awesome as he was in that round b4 the knockdown. Does Barrera really need to get himself up for a rematch with Marquez, which if he wins could turn into another trilogy? No, not really. I say if Barrera is to fight again he ought to go for Pacqauoi and try to avenge that loss or retire. Maybe fight Marquez again, but really he has nothing left to prove aside from possibly avenging that Pac man loss.

Barerra wouldn't retire with controversy. He wants JMM again at least one more time.

I'm in turmoil in this one, Marco is one of my faveourite fighters and a big reason why I love this sport like I do, I want to see him avenge the JMM "loss" and fight Pac again but at the same time I don't want to see him fall from grace like Morales.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!

I don't feel Barrera should get a rematch with Marquez, but I don't think it necessary he retire without a "final fight" warning to the fans. The opponent doesn't have to be world class just competant.

One more for the road against a midlevel opponent and then retire.
