    Default OLEG VS PETER

I say Oleg wins by points.

But there could be a 12th round Rahmanian stoppage of an exhausted and dispirited Peter stumbling around the ring half out of his wits...

In any case: to good and exciting fighters meeting each other!!!! Both of them tough guys who will give their all. It could be an even one. I just cant see what Peter brings to the table that Maskaev doesnt also have (plus a slight edge like height, stamina and so on)

So much at stake for both of them!

For Peter its obviously all he has ever dreamt of. For Oleg a win will redeem him completely from his checkered past.

    How do you rate:

    stamina?
    grit? willpower?
    technique?
    speed?
    power?

Peter looked terrible against Hawkins. Panama Lewis collapsed in the third round I think it was and that absolutely threw Peter off. Panama, as much shit as he takes and deservingly so, is a mentor to Peter and has really taught him a lot. So when that happened, he tried to swing for the fences to end it in 1 but Hawkins is to crafty. Peter didn't even do post fight interviews until he was told Panama was fine.

Look at the Toney fights if you want to see Peter at his best. Because he's improved a ton since Klitschko. I know the popular pick is Peter KO, but even I a huge fan of Peter have to look at Maskaev to see just how much he gets hit. But right now, it's Peter KO

Imagine Oleg getting to hit at will like that...

Ive changed my mind, Peter has zero chance.

At least he wasn't getting sparked out in any of those videos. Wouldn't be very hard to find a video of that sort of Maskaev now would it?

Thanks that might explain somethings. It also makes you wonder how mentally professional he is. You are right that the last Toney fight he looked better. Still, his aim was off, the punches were mostly off target. Tony is of course defensively very strong. But still, I feel that Peter would have lost if Toney had had the energy to hit 20% more punches.

I dont dislike Peter, its just that he seems to lack accuracy and sharpness. He also does not seem so hard to hit.

You're pretty much spot on in the last line. But his game isn't based on accuracy and sharpness. He has raw power, and he knows when to throw the right punch. His jab isn't much but it's a stiff one and it sets his right up fairly well. Power in all punches, I think he gives EVERYONE trouble. I think the only person who beats him at this point is Wlad.

He was KOd by McCall, no shame in that, David Tua no shame in that but it was in the 11th and his own stupid mistake. Kirk Johnson, Whitacker and Sanders.

So you are right he can be KOd. Maskaev was KOd last time 5 years ago!

However, I think he has learnt alot. And Peter has failed to stop many people much less tough!!

WOW! I cant believe that you and I have such different views. I grant you that he may be able to KO anyone, but he also seems capable of losing many fights due to his lack of precision. i mean jovo pudar went the distance, and shufford and hawkins... its not like he is Vitali or something.

I think that an eastern european like Oleg or Sultan throwing hard accurate punches may simply win every round.

Maskaev pumping jab, then working in the straight right. hm.

    Oleg by UD.

The Big O is on a very good strike. I was very impressed by the way he went to Germany and outboxed SSS. None has done it before in such an impressive way.

I think Peter's abillity to KO people is very overrated. His power is not overrated but he is so clumsy and almost never hits his opponent with a clean punch.

Ok that's how I see it too. I didnt know he outboxed Sinan Sam that is very impressive. I bet on Oleg to beat Rahman based on that fact. I said I would never post here again if Maskaev didnt beat Rahman. Well that settles it. Maskaev can box and win every round. As a bonus he is also a puncher. Peter is not ready.

Peter's last combination on Toney looked so shoeshine phony The only improvement he showed was a better jab.

He won, but he didn't change as much.
