I was confused when they said Kessler wouldn't be able to fight Calzaghe in June.

I guess Kessler just needs more time to train for Calzaghe but then again, what is wrong with these people? Only fighting once or twice a year when they should be ready for battle 24/7. No wonder boxing is in the state that it is in. I have never seen so many preimadonas in this sport like we have now.
Take the June date and stop bullshieting the people Kessler. Who do you think you are Sergio Mora?
You don't call no shots. Calzaghe is the king and you are just a pauper. If Kessler really wanted this fight, he would jump all over the June date.
You don't hear Calzaghe complaining that it is not enough time for him to prepare for Kessler, when Calzaghe just got done fighting the Mighty Manfredo Jr.
I know that Andrade was a tough customer a la Oktay Urkal but Kessler should be ready by June. Right? Something does not sound right here.
Kessler has long before that fight with Andrade stated that after the fight he was to take two months off to let his body recover and rest before going into camp again mid or late May, so June or July is just not an option. Warren suggests July not June but HBO already has one PPV event (Hopkins vs. Wright) in July and Warren knows this when offering Kessler a fight in July, so IMO this is just another shot of hot air from Warren.
Sounds like Kessler is ducking Joe to me hes been crying for a fight with Joe to promote his name and now he is offered one he cant becasue hes having a 2 month break.Originally Posted by Elephant Beer
maybe it is Team Kessler who is avoiding this fight as it sure looks like it from your post![]()
Definately Team Kessler who are playing hard to get and Kessler called Joe out 2 weeks ago but strangley now it's on the table doesn't wanna know.
Speaks volumes to me about Joes past![]()
Well Kessler wouldn't accept the offer made by Warren. We know of the date issue. But we don't know much about what other conditions were made in the offer.Originally Posted by Smashup
The thing i notice from Warren's talk, is that they'll now turn their attention to Taylor, who has a fight in may, and clearly WON't be ready for June or July. That means that they're quite prepared to wait for Taylor whereas in the case of Kessler, it's a one-time take it or leave it offer, where it seems nothing is negotiable.
Just a quick guess. If they show up with the same attitude to Taylor, negotiations will be very shortlived and NOT fruitfull.
Personally i hope Warren ends up digging his own grave with this kind of approach to negotiations - and end up with nothing at all.
But of course they can probably always find another Manfredo kind of guy to keep the masses entertained.
WTF does Kessler need to recover for? Two months is more than enough time to heal, and start training again. He is already in good shape, and it doesn't take the body that much time to heal especially from such a one sided fight. Calzaghe just fought so there is no reason why he should be any less fresh than Joe IMO.
Kessler should have been fighting Calzaghe last saturday, I think both men and their teams are responsible. Promoters should get their act together before they drive almost every last part time fan out of the sport.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!
I think boxing should adapt a seed system something like tennis. You don't move up in rank until you beat better ranked opponents. Giving an unranked fighter like Peter manfedo jr a shot at the title is ridiculous. Every boxer should have to earn their shot for the title. Make it one title not 4 or more titles. There can only be one champion per division.
