Default Well i want to start boxing

Right now i weigh 132 lbs... I wanna get out of this weight class and get into the middle weight range. I have never boxed in my life but i have taken a bit of martial arts. I am 14 two months until 15. I wanna know what you think of going up two weight classes. Also what age is it to compete in amateur boxing matches. Also is this a good age even though i know best is about 7-10?

Bad idea. If you're good looking enough, become a model. Hell, even a hand model is better than getting your head beat in. Just look at Scrap. Creature from the blue lagoon.

I don't think you are too old at 15 but you'd want to train in a boxing gym for a while first. Why do you want to move up 2 weight classes? You don't usually get hit as hard when you fight other midgets and you'll get bashed less.

I'm a midget and proud! I like to think that there's less chance of me getting brain damage because I fight at a low weight and don't get hit as hard as bigger fighters. I hope that's realistic because the brain cells I have left are pretty important to me

Just because you will weigh more doesnt mean that you will hit any harder. There are a lot of examples of pros with good/great power that moved up in weight but their same power had less affect in the higher weight classes. Get into a boxing club and start training. After you have trained a while you will find your fighting weight.

just do what your trainer tells you to, dont worry about switching between the two. Stick with one until you become natural with it.

I agree with TyBuff. Plus I would be open to the idea that a trainer will have a lot to teach you that will make any street fights you have had seem very unskilled. It's a positive thing because you'll learn a lot and get a lot more out of it. He'll have more to teach you to improve just in orthodox than you might imagine.
