Even when you are good enough to fight a good trainer will always find things you can improve so i wouldn't feel too down about his comments RE your footwork. I sounds negative but you now know what to do for your next step - improve your footwork. Check out Scraps post on fast feet and I'm sure there's tonnes of other posts on footwork etc you can read for some good ideas.

Prove to your trainer that you have heart by not training and you will eventually get your first fight. In my gym no one fights on less than a year's training because my coaches prefer us to be overcooked rather than undercooked for our first bouts. It does dramatically increase your chances of success at least initially so at least when you do have your first fight you can use that thought as a confidence booster.

Yeah, when the guy I just took on,talked to Feur Frie about training with me,the first thing she said to him was,"Im warning you now,he's never happy"
Id rather be constantly niggling at my fighter, tweaking and improving, then see one of my fighters on the canvas, because oops,I forgot to mention something.
Also I firmly believe fighters can constantly improve, and evolve to their circumstance.A fighter who did that was Hopkins,a fighter who didnt was Tyson.
Hopkins has a big pay day fight lined up with Winky at the age of 42
Tyson's doing exhibitions and trying to call out Ann Wolfe

Both of these replies are sound. I would add though, that sometimes some motherfuckers don't like you. No rhyme or reason they just don't. And if this guys giving you the shaft because he doesn't "like the cut of your jib" as my grandfather used to say, then you can train all you want and it might not get you the guys respect. If this is the case then you might look for someone else. But let me reiterate what the others said, if you your trainer is demanding alot ofyou and giving you attention then that's a good thing.

That is a point, and not one to be taken lightly. And it lends to the importance of picking the right trainer, and the right gym
If I knew how to hit one of them CC things(makes attempt) I would
Thats a luxury I have,my gym's small and private. If your hitting my bags, sparring my fighter,or on my couch breaking down tape, you know in advance your only there because theres something about you I think I can work with.

I have not the experience nor the knowledge like the fellas above me to tell you what to do D, but maybe I can give you a heads up:

After almost 2 years of training i got my first bout, and no, I don't have talent, and my technique is far from perfect, and I suppose (or know actually), seeing all the training i do with mainly guys and most of them (ex)fighters (I also sparr with these guys and rearly with girls), I never will have the talent or technique. But i got heart! I'm training my ass off, trying to get every little bit better i can.
The only thing i got going for me, boxing-wise, is my defence which is rather good and i can take a punch, which comes in handy with the boys
Anyways, because of these things, the trainer gave me a go. So i hope for you your trainer will appriciate and respect the amount of work and effort you put in, like mine did, and in time will give you a (responsable!) go as well!

Good luck and do let us know!
