Default Is David Haye the heavyweight everyones been looking for???

well i've i am impressed with his power. i have watched a few of his fights and basically, when he connects with that right hand the other falls. seriously this guy has tremendous punching power, he connects and you go down. he doesnt throw that much but when he lands the other guy usually goes down. he also has a good killer instinct. seriously his power is somat else, i cant emphasize it more, the guy just needs one shot. he has everything in terms of skill.

however, im not sure if this guy can sell like a tyson. he isnt that sort of person, like a liston or a foreman that will attract ppl to his fights. he's a happy kinda guy. im not sure.

the other question mark is his chin and heart. only time will tell. but jus watch his fights on youtube and you'll see, b4 i thought this guy is hitting bums thats why they all rolling over when he hits em. but even in his amatuer fights and recent pro fights, he hits once and they either fall or are ready fall.

we'll find out in a years time if this guy is the real deal. the heavyweight scene is gettin interesting, we jus need more media coverage!

Can't say he is. Powerful, but sloppy, just like alot of the other guys out there now. I'd put more stock in Chris Arreola. Not as powerful, but decent chin, great workrate, and tons of heart.

watch the fight above, one of his first, he is really sharp and towards the end you will see how powerful he is when he sends his man across the ring with a one two....

Hold on my friend, if you read my post again, I said he was powerful. I just said he was a little sloppy. I've seen a few of his fights. I'm not doubting he looks good, but his D is a little sloppy. I just think he leaves himsely open for big shots. Exciting fighter, I just don't see him being the heavyweight savior.

yeah im not buying him either his defense wouldn't make it thru the heavyweight ranks.

Fair enough. I just can't see him beating Vlad or Peter at this time. And with how low he tends to hold his hands, I wouldn't put him up against Briggs either. But, who knows, if he evolves a little, he could be a force.

Yes and no. I think he could become WBC Champion, but I read an interview with him and he says once he's won WBC titles at Cruiser and Heavy, he'll retire without defending, totally satisfied. I don't think he cares enough for the sport to be the Heavy everyone wants, and before he wins the belt, he won't generate the money to make more than one big fight unfortuantely. It's a shame because he has potential.

to be fair i would probably pick haye in any heavy title match except wlad. he is still new to the heavy scene but he is miles better and miles more hungry and dangerous than half the contenders that the champs are facing. the heavy scene is still piss poor and the contenders goin for title shots are average at best. we need a heavyweight unification of someone to come and shake up the scene a bit by knocking the big fellas out.
we havent had a unification since lewis- holyfield surely.

I'm not quite sold on Haye yet.

Obviously he has a lot of positives, but I want to see him against someone who isn't completely flatfooted like everybody he's been in the ring with.

He has very good power, he sits down on his punches good. He boxes out of a very relaxed stance and he looks very natural when he throws that right hand following the jab. His jab works very nice when he puts it in front of punches, that's something he didn't have when he lost to...Carl Thompson? I think it was Thompson. So he has a base offense to build on at the very least and obviously his power is going to make a lot of people crumble and his 1,2 is very sound.

But he has other flaws, even on the offensive side of things.

Starting off, he throws the lead left hook far to much for my liking. Normally that would not be a problem, but his lead left hook is very slow and he throws it low. He rushes in without throwing punches and tends to smother his opponents, in fact, a lot of his KO's have come when his opponents have just crouched down when smothered and he's knocked them out. And then and possibly the worst especially if he wants to compete against the heavyweights, he keeps his left hand at his midsection. He needs to pick that hand up because he can really be set up for a right hand with the hand that low.

I still rate him as a prospect as of right now, I want to see him in the ring with some crafty guys who have actual foot movement like a Wayne Braithwaite or Eliseo Castillo before seeing him take on anyone near the top of any division.

He is developing nicely though, and in a year or so we will have a better outlook on whether or not he is the heavyweight we are looking for.
