Should Floyd waste his time and come back to fight Mosley (what does he have to prove) or should he hang up the gloves and go out on top which few athletes have done throughout history.

Mosely is Hall of Fame bound and worth at least $6 million to Floyd.
Plus how will lil Floyd feel if Mosely cleans up at 147 and steals his thunder?
This is Mosley's third stint at WW. He left in 2002, came back after his loss to Winky (2nd time) and now he returns again, he did not clean it out the first two times, I doubt if he will do it now. Besides Floyd has cleaned out the division already beating the former Lineal champ (Judah), then the second former lineal champ (Baldomir). Forrest would have never allowed Shane to do that.Originally Posted by Bilbo

I think Shane is a real tough fight for PBF. Overall, I also think that if PBF wants to be considered as an all time great he needs to keep fighting. Although his record is perfect he hasn't had a career defining fight. He hasn't shown that he's the full package. I really think Mosley beats PBF or Mosley brings out the best of PBF and the career defining fight happens.
Shane is fast and strong and has very good stamina. You mentioned Zab, Baldo, and ODH. Those 3 fights 2 he waited for the guy to gas out, and one he outran the whole time. Those 2 strategies won't work against Shane and I don't think he can ko him. So he would have to fight offensively to win. If that's the case it's a crackin fight. I give the advantage to Shane cause I have seen a lot more offense and willingness to fight from him.
I thought ODH was a career defining victory for him. He went up to 154 to beat the best fighter in the division despite having a huge size disadvantage. On top of that it came against the only 6 division champion in boxing history who was more hungry for this fight (because of his past failures in big fights) than any other fight in his career. If ODH was not a career defining victory I don't know how Mosley is.Originally Posted by luvfightgame

Shane Mosley is not worth coming out of retirement for.
I think he would be. It wouldnt be a tough fight for Mayweather and would add to his resume very conspicuously. I hope it does come off. Either way, I dont think Mayweather will stay retired for too long. Sugar Shane Mosley or not, he will be back someday...
damn right he is. mayweather needs to fight mosley. it is the best fight out there for him at the moment
There's probably several million REALLY good reasons to do it.
yes floyd's record is perfect, but it is very carefuly put that way, meaning that pretty much every opponent has been hand picked and he has had is all pretty much his own way for most of his career. mosley is such a dangerous opponent for floyd. if floyd wants to keep an undefeated record he should stay retired. but he will never be an all time great. never.
It is when your only 30. I mean its getting a little ridiculous, people are acting as tho pbf has been retired for 5 years and is 35. He is at the top of his powers and has only just 'retired' so any fight that can add to his legacy and make him millions is worth it imo.
While I am sure that GBP would supply a mega promotion & large sum of money for the 12 rounds that it would most definently run...Floyd would gain much more credibility in fighting Cotto, Hatton, or even the winner of Williams Margarito.Originally Posted by Evil Wacko 3205
Mosley is still world class, IWO, but he'll be discredit just as quickly as Oscar was after Floyd defeated him.

I hate to be this way...to sound so "matter o' factly"...but your'e wrong & that is a cliche' that is past it's prime.Originally Posted by jbirdy
Floyd's record of opponents was not hand picked. Floyd took many of the fighters out when they were threats & highly regarded or coming off of credible wins.
Corrales was the #1 contender for the WBA strap & was also the IBF & IBA Super Featherweight belt holder when Floyd defeated him. He was regarded as the biggest threat at the time & he was undefeated in something like 33 fights with 25 or 26 knockouts on his record.
Chavez had lost I think only once & was the #2 contender for the WBC strap I think...either that or WBA. Can't remember for sure...but he was no joke either. Chavez was one of the great Mexi fighters coming up until he started falling apart from injuries...but regardless...he fought many great battles & was not a hand picked opponent.
I aint going through the entire list & giving an explanation because most of them don't need one. You have fighters such as Judah, Baldomir, Castillo (2 times), Manfredy, N'dou, Jukko, and Oscar that are & were all great fighters that took pretty hard beatings while in the ring with Floyd.
You can't just discount them because it suits a fancy or because you (NOT SPECIFICALLY YOU JBIRD...YOU IN GENERAL) don't like Floyd.
Floyd has proven his greatness time & time again & every time that he beats someone that everyone hopes will beat him...once they lose...theyr'e trash...& that just aint right.
Everyone loves to say that Floyd hand picks em...but they didn't land those belts for nothing & they didn't get their reps handed to them...they earned em.
