    Default Ricky Hatton ...

When he entered the ring against a "shot"(yeah right) Tszyu, I was rooting for Kostya thinking that Hatton was nothing but an overhyped boxer from britain, and believe me I am from Puerto Rico and people tend to hate people that can give Cotto a hard fight, but I am 100% non bias when it comes to my favorite sport. Hatton that night proved me damn wrong, and impressed me at the same time.

The guy is 5'6 and is a f*** tank, never back downs, Tyson-like pressure, cuts the ring as good as a prime Duran,a stamina that can give Mayweather a run for his money(stamina-wise, iron chin, and the best attribute that he has: HEART.This guy is a beast at his weight, and don't get me wrong I know he doesn't has any bussiness at 147 simply because of his size, but 140 is where he's at home.

He is the best 140 pounder at the moment hands down , no questions asked. I love Castillo's style he is #2 behind Hatton P4P pressure style fighter, but he's older, been in many wars, is way slower and he just recently entered the weight class, while Hatton is younger, hungrier, tougher and faster than Castillo. IMO Castillo has a good chance because he's a body snatcher at all times and that is something I really love about him, and Hatton looked weird when Urango punished his body and maybe this could be his Aquilles heel, but is way to soon to prove that, and I know that his lion heart will overcome this.

Paulie is a speedy slick boxer with great footwork, but believe me Hatton's pressure style will give this kid nightmares. Hatton is simply too tough against this kid. Castillo too. IMO N'Dou would had a better chance if he punished the body from the 1st round, he was cutting the ring like a pro but was headhunting with predictable telegraphed shots against the faster and slicker Paulie. If he would had focused on the body instead of his head it would had been a way different story.

In conclusion Hatton is the top dog at 140 and that is where he needs to stay as the king of the division.

This post is interesting. It's almost as if you have been living in a cave for 18 months it's so outdated.

Since his impressive win over Tszyu Hatton has looked anything but. He got careless against Maussa early on and ended up badly bloodied. His move up to 147 was not quite an absolute disaster but it was certainly about as phyric a victory as you could get. After relinquished his welterweight belt and scuttling back down to the juniors he then put in a lethargic lacklustre display against a D list fighter. His stamina certainly wouldn't have given Floyd a run for his money on that night.

I have no doubt he will beat Castillo as Castillo happens to be not only as overatted as Hatton but also even more faded and past it.

This fight has very limited appeal to me. Cotto was the number 1 140 lb until he moved, and Floyd was number 1 before him.

If Hatton is indeed the best at 140 lbs now it is only because the real talents graduated from junior high and went onto pursue their masters at 147 lbs. Hatton basically failed his exams and his doing retakes.

Exactly they graduated because they could, but Hatton's height and frame is not a welter one, and yes he tends to ballon up between fights but that doesn't mean that he could fight at 147 easily. He would get dominated by stronger and larger opponents like Margarito. IMO Hatton only impresses when he's figthing a top name, just the fact that he is fighting JLC will give him enough motivation to pull off a masterful performance like he did against Tszyu. Like I said he is a beast at his weight but he has not faced opponents that will put him into a stardom status except Tszyu, just watch the fight this next Saturday and I guarantee you that you will either end up paying respects to the Hitman or bashing him for beating an old and shot JLC.

PS: I have been in cave for 2 years. Is called Rehab.

Based on one performance in which the old and injured Tszyu had an off night.

I have no doubt Ricky will beat Castillo, I'm not a fan of either.

If Hatton was a beast at his weight he would have murdered Urango not been on the back foot for the last 4 rounds.

Lets just give it until Saturday and see what happens. If he destroys Castillo then we can truely say that he raises his game when it matters. Otherwise Tszyu will be regarded as a perfect one night only performance. I personally hope he does win convincingly though as I want to see some more mega fights.

Well said. Let me add, that Hatton's last few fights have been against guys, who for him,are stylistic nightmares. Bullish southpaw(Urango),tall, strong slick southpaw(Collazo) and the awkward Maussa(who no one has looked good against...apart from Cotto ). I fully expect to see him the best of him for this fight. I want JLC to win but I favour Hatton and it'll tell us alot about him.

I don't think a win over Castillo would prove anything. He barely squeaked by Herman Nobody last time out and plodded to a 12 win over
Rolando Reyes before that. He's also been stopped 5 times yet still has this status for legendary toughness.

Who he ever beat that wasn't controversial? Coralles he cheated by not making weight, Casamayor most thought he lost, Stevie Johnston he won a close first fight and managed to barely survive the rematch after Johnston's win was downgraded to a draw to let him keep his title.

Never understood his popularity at all.

I dunno Manuel Garnica looked great against Maussa, not so good against Tim Bradley though

Yeah but Bilbo, the way you look at JLC,anyone could dismantle a fighters resume like that. Look at who he has fought and beaten. Close or not,he got the W. And prior to the Corrales fight, when was he stopped? He gave PBF his toughest fight and injured or not,"beat" him the first time. Then there are guys like Diaz,Lazcano,Bazan who were all highly rated in the division, at the time. If you are not a JLC fan, fair enough, but to say he hasn't done much He was on nearly all P4P lists a while ago.

And yes JLC has looked poor in his last 2 fights but look at all the names he has fought over the last few years and combined with his age, obviously he is going to find it difficult to be as motivated for the smaller fights.

I would not consider myself a JLC fan at all,but I acknowledge and respect his achievements. And like I said, anyone can dismantle someones' record.

Thanks bro. Anyways I was a die hard fan of Tszyu even when he shockingly lost that bout against Vince Phillips and I thought that he would murder Hatton, but Ricky stood his ground and was too tough and rough for Kostya. Aside from that like El Gamo said Ricky has been in the ring these last fights against difficult to look good opponents.
