    Default Throwing Up After Running?

Ok, so normally I run for about 30 minutes everyday on my streets. I'm at altitude and a lot of my running is uphill so it works me out really nice. But today I decided to take a different route, basically just to get more uphill running done since the weather was not cold since I got a late start on it today. My head was still a bit wet from the shower, and I could feel my eyes burning and my ears began to hurt and I figured it was the beginning of a head cold since I was running with wet hair.

So anyways, continued uphill which made my downhill longer and somehow a lot steeper. I made my way down hill and put in a little bit of a sprint afterwards from momentum and the fact that I don't have to go very far to make it back to myhouse since it's essentially right on the bottom of the hill. So as I'm running, I feel something come up from my stomach, kind of turned my head to the side and threw up right in some dead grass.

My stomach feels fine, had nothing in it except last nights dinner which was some very greasy pizza. Just wondering, is it because I was jogging for so long and then went into a sprint? Last nights dinner or was it because I was running with wet hair? I know nothing about these types of things, and have only thrown up working out once. Also, drank a red bull beforehand which I normally don't do either.

Feel fine now but don't exactly feel like eating either. Anyone know?

Ate a few pieces of greasy pizza probably 12 hours before, and I drank an energy drink immediately before stretching.

    Two possible issues-

1)If you're gonna run for 30 minutes, you should eat something within the last 12 hours.

2)If you had any residual water in your ears from your shower and it was cold and you were moving vigorously, that could temporarily do something to your inner ear to affect your equilibrium, causing you to vomit even though everything else feels fine.

Thanks for that, second explanation sounds good enough. Also, I almost never eat breakfast before having my first run. Not really cramps that are the problem, just never seem to have quite the same energy. You saying I shouldn't do this?

Some people can just get up and run. Some can't. I always try to eat something light before my morning roadwork. A piece of fruit, or one poached egg and piece of toast or something.

    Red Bull
Caffeine is a diaretic(ie it dehydrates you) on an empty stomach, and combined with fast twitch excercise, thats a recipe for disaster
I make a point of heavily regulating my caffeine intake before I eat,my love of coffee be damned

I had this one morning. Just happened. My eyes were stinging, my ears ached real frikin bad! I felt like vomiting real bad, but didn't. I saw boxing trainer about it, he told me that because it was warm in my house, and I stepped out into the cold and started running, the cold air pressure passed (and went in) my ears faster. He told me that if the air temp in your house is a big difference to outside when you run, it can cause pain and discomfort because of a sudden change in body temp.
And yeah this caused burning eyes and made me feel like throwin up.

Don't if it is the same as what you suffering but yeah.

To get over it I just sat outside in the cold for like 5 mins and started jogging slowly, building up my pace into a run. This helps your body adjust, and now I wear a beanie too.

Cheers all. I ran today again, a lot later this time and I felt absolutely fine, actually ran the longest I've run in a very long time. Took your tip, Brockton and ate a banana before I went out today, it actually helped me run longer I think. Not that I ever had any problems before but I don't know, it felt good.

Didn't get on in time to read your reply Lucky but that makes sense aswell. And I had the very same symptoms you did.

Cheers all and CC's all around, was just wondering a bit why I would throw up like that after my stomach felt fine.

....I always puke when I work out hardcore....used to do it every day at football practice.

Sometimes it's what you eat and sometimes it's simply overexertion
