    Default Please,Shoot Me

First off,my kid gets up insanely early, normally I take an hour nap to deal with it.
But I had a new fighter starting in the gym
I cant sleep because Im thinking about what Im going to have him work on(hes a refugee from another gym,I know what Im working with)
Get my son from the bus stop, waiting on Feur, and my new vic- errrrrrr fighter, lots of nervous energy
I decide to mow the yard in %100 humidity
Fighter gets here, now what I should do,is just tell him what I want, walk him through it slow, and let him get on,but I gotta do everything with him,Im too hands on.
I finally sit him down to watch tape(all of my fighters, watch tape,I want them to think about what they think,is working,or isnt in a fight) so what do I do.
    My normal workout routine
    Owwwwwwwwwwwww,owwwwwwwwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeee,o wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Im such a pigheaded ol dipsh!t

    Ouch -

tell me your lawn mower is motorized - I've got one of those non-motorized rat exercise wheel type things and that'd just be too much in any kinda heat!

Well after all that you'd want the lawn to look good so you can pass out on it  - although I'm allergic to bees so there's no lying on grass for me  I swear the little b******s hunt me down too!

Oh now that's funny!!! Actually the yard's perfect for passing out on now.
Well, working with the new boxer went well. I think Trainer Monkey's gonna make a monster out of this guy.
Poor Trainer Monkey. Most guys have to put up with their wives bringing home abandoned kittens....I bring home abandoned boxers.

Good to hear the training went well - you know I can imagine you bringing home abandoned boxers - and now you have access to these forums you might just start bringing home more and more .......

In all honesty, the kid can be as good as he wants to be
    Bad former training aside
He has good legs, the ability to hit like a mule kicks, and decent hand speed.
Its all on his heart, and relearning,so he has it right this time.
I never seem to get the no hopers,I get people who can go as far as they wish
That sounds really good at first,Im sure, but I get really intensly emotionaly attached to how my fighters do
If they dont succeed,I view it as my fault,I didnt give them what they needed to succeed

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink -

Sometimes I get annoyed at how I am trained then months later someone else will explain the same thing slightly differently and suddenly I get it - I'm not sure any one trainer could make me a great fighter alone. It's too much to heap onto one person -

I do think getting your fighters to watch tape must help though - I've never watched tape with a trainer - only alone and I think I don't have a good enough eye for things to see everything on my own yet.

When I make them watch,Ive allready watched,I know whats working in there and what isnt
I want them to watch, and then form their own conclusions
And we go over the tail of it together,so they can think about it,and then I break down for them whats happening,so they can look at their own game plan in the ring
I never intdended to run an actual gym,Im too emotianaly attached to my fighters(ill propably be upchucking this weekend my new boy intends to fight),I just wanted a fighter or two
But if somebody wants it bad enough
Well,I remember when I was 8,and a Blue Horizon fighter started training me
Damndest thing is,I cant for the life of me remember his name, mind you I walked in to a punch one day,so those brain cells could be on permanent shut down

Good system - you show them something on tape and then it's like your fighters thought that they came up with that and I guess they rightly did identify it - gives them a sense of ownership over what they're learning.

    I like it.

Excuse my ignorance but what's a blue horizon fighter?

The Blue Horizon is more or less the original boxing home in Philadelphia, where I was born

This wossing out on fights seems to happen a lot to Feuer - must be annoying.

Here i think the SA boxing community is small enough that the match makers get to know who has a tendancy to woss out at the last minute (several times, without giving any reason) and they generally might not be offered many more matches too easily.

Is this a problem just with Feuer's opponents or is the boxing community large enough there to do that too easily without being known for it?
