How good is Kessler

I thought I would pre-empt the pitfalls of Calzaghe dominating Kessler like he did Lacy. I'm not saying Kessler is good/bad or whatever, but I want things to be clear for our analysis after this fight happens (which is looking increasingly likely).

So, how good is Kessler really? I want this to be confirmed so that Calzaghe gets the credit he deserves if he wins this fight,whether that is alot, a little or none at all.

Right now i class him as a good SMW... i don't he is defo 2/3 best at the weight depending on what lacy does in his come back...

Truth is though,if kessler is the real deal he should be looking to beat calzaghe by a wide margin, Joe will be close to 36, shot hands,very little sparring time in somethign like 7 years,power that is extremmly diminished..

Kessler is in his absolue prime with almost the same amount of fights...

Good points. I have him as a good SMW. This will be his defining fight. If he does indeed beat Calzaghe I'd put him in my top 15 P4P. If Calzaghe beats Kessler, it'll move him up to top 5 in my eyes.

Kessler has done all the right things but doesnt have anyything special that he would need to beat Joe, he is basicly another Richie Woodhall

He hasnt done anything out of the ordinary with his opponents, he has even lacked, like against Mundine, Ottke who was renowned as having a week punch flattened Mundine and Kessler couldnt put a dent in him

I think he has the potential to be one if the greats. It seems after he had become champ that he is willing to fight the best in order to get recognition. I believe he could have done the same thing as Calzaghe and seek cash cows to bang down,but he is going after the glory now.

One thing though I think he has been built up for far to long and remember he only got the title shot because Mads Larsen was injured, so Kessler stepped in his place. So Kessler had a lot of easy fight before, he said that Andrade was the worst opponent he ever face, so we dont know the limits in Kesslers abilities yet, but Kessler has always had an extreme accuracy and speed, thats seasons he has been my favorite danish boxer for many years and regarded as the biggest danish talent ever, eventhough that dosenot say much. Hopefully Calzaghe will challenge Kessler so we can see what he is made of. So after he has faced Calzaghe we will all know more. This is going to be a great fight I think Kessler will TKO Calzaghe, dont think Calzaghe gets away with his slaps this time.
