    Default P4P in the future?

Todays p4p list reads something like this.
    1 Floyd Mayweather
    2 Manny Pacquiao
    3 Ronald Wright
    4 Juan Manuel Marquez
    5 Rafael Marquez
    6 Joe Calzaghe
    7 Ricky Hatton
    8 Miguel Cotto
    9 Bernard Hopkins
    10 Jermaine Taylor

I know even this list is up for argument, but forget that for the moment and make a prediction for what the P4P lsit will look like in 5 years time.
Here is my go at it.
1 Floyd Mayweather. I dont think he'll stay retired. May fight only once a year but he'll stay at the top. In the next five years i can see him fighting and beating, Hatton, Cotto and Mosely.
2 Rafael Marquez. Good power, good skill, good chin. Think he will clean out the super bantam division with wins over ponce de leon, caballero, and Vasquez II. Then a move up and defeat Chris John to avenge his brothers loss.
    3. Miguel Cotto. Despite a loss to Mayweather, he fights and defeats Hatton, Margarito and Williams to gain a high spot on this list.
    4. Cristian Mijares. Beats Arce for a second time. Also defeats Darchinyan and Donaire who move up to fight him. Then defeats Hazegawa for a title at Bantam.
    5. Mikkel Kessler. Clears out the SMW division including Calzaghe. Then wins a title at LHW.
    6. Wladimir Klitschko. No oone beats him for the next 5 years at HW so he gets a spot on the list.
    7. Kelly Pavlik. Takes out Jermaine Taylor at middleweight and retains the title for a few fights then moves to SMW and wins titles after Kessler has left.
    8. Manny Pacquiao. Wins fights at 130 over Barrera and JMM, the tries moving up in divisions and loses at 140 to Hatton.
    9. Billy Dibb. The wonderboy of Goldenboy promotions gets brought along well by his management company and has wins over some aging big name opponents including Barrera and Marquez. Moves up to lightweight and defeats long time champ Juan Diaz.
    10. Kermit Cintron. Despite loss to Margarito goes on long undefeated streak which wins him a title at 147. Then moves to 154 and wins a title over Cory Spinks, and defends against Alcine and Paul Williams.

This is all pure guesswork. Would love to see what u guys think will be the top en list in 2012.

Good Job on the effort. I do not agree with all of your list but good job on the prediction I won't even try to make one I am not good at such things.

I think Floyd will be gone in 5 years time, he'll be 34 or 35 by then and he won't be risking his unbeaten record once his speed has slowed a bit I don't think.

I'd fancy Khan to be knocking on the door, either one of the Peterson brothers has a chance as do Steve Molitor and Bernard Dunne.

I can never remember which Andre is the best one but the top one of Ward and Direll could be a p4p star as well.

Good picks on Christian Mijares and Rafael Marquez ( future nº1 P4P according 2 the Pacman's rating logic nowadays), gudnite vienna is right - Khan and Berto definitely may be there in 5 years time, I'll add Canadian Haitian Jean Pascal to be the fluid combo puncher, skillful fast Super Middle that will side step Kessler in these next 3 years or so, Zsolt Erdei is the low profile outsider who has a big chance to be there when Light-heavies/Super-Middles B-Hop, Winky and Calzaghe are gone, Wlad won't survive without a kayo loss until then and Pretty Boy ( no longer undefeated) can be there but definitely below the nº5 slot, Pacquaio can have as many as five close wins ( or defeats or draws) in the next five years...

no point doing it in a list coz u gottahave set times etc and see whos about...

Chad dawson will be there at some point, Khan will be, Kessler is there or there abouts now, but will be in the futre too, no way pavilk does hes a puncher nothing more... Wlad might be... hes no spring chicken tho, possible there will still be big names around fighting whilst he is still fighting bums or fading...

(btw why would pac jump to 140 to fight hatton when he could fight at 135? pac at LW lol! silly boy)

Cintron? Dibb? Ok Wlad holds the title for five years but draws critics for fighting Calvin Brock five times and not unifying.

5 years is a long time. I doubt Mayweather (35), Marquez (37), Klitschko (36) or Pacquiao (34) will be any where near the p4p list based on age and numerous wars fought. And your choice of Dib (who's faced nobody) and Cintron are laughable.

Half the fun in any sport is imagining 'what if' or 'what might happen in the future' type posts.

I think it's a good idea for a thread although I don't agree with many of his picks.

@violentdemise, Hopkins was still p4p number 1 in his 40's, Roy Jones Jr into his 30's as well. I see no reason why Floyd could not still be top of the pile or thereabouts at 35 if he was still fighting. I really can't see Marquez being around at 37 though nor Pacquiao.

Klitschko will never be p4p no matter how many titles and fights he wins as there is nobody to beat at heavyweight.

Yeah, but I seriously doubt Mayweather continues fighting at 35. He's already thinking retirement.
