    Default Roach Training B-Hop

I find this interesting but I guess Roach is the best guy in the game to get his fighter conditioned. B-Hops trainer Nazim Richardson had a stroke recently and hasn't been able to train him but Bernard says hell be in his corner the night of the fight..maybe with Roach I'm guessing. Sounds like Roach has a good thing going with Golden Boy. I think Oscar will continue with him if he fights again.

trainers are like fads. Seems like a particular trainer gets notice every few years and top fighters then go to him to get him into shape.. It is the fighter who fights not the trainer.

Well the trainer is important, but youre right, The top trainers become in demand when they develop a champion, McGirt was in demand too for a while

I forgot about McGirt being in demand. Wasn't that due to Tarver?? I always respect guys like Hagler who kept his trainers the Petronellis his whole career. I always feel sorry for a trainer who was with a guy since he was a kid, and the guy gets to be a big time boxer and he fires the trainer.

I like Roach but he spreads himself far too thinly. He seems to be coaching about 100 different fighters. I wander if he's going to dump all his other fighters again to train B Hop this time around or whether Hopkins doesn't need a full time babysitter like De La Hoya?

Hes a great trainer but after he tried to have Gatti outbox Mayweather he lost a little credibility imo, but hes still a great trainer no doubt.

Yep but c'mon if Gatti had a gun he still would have lost that fight. I don't think Gatti even trains to win fights any more he just trains to take a beating and lose gallantly.

I was mad at McGirt because he took his punchers chance away from him. A slim chance but outboxing floyd was not possible. Gatti doesnt train to win or lose imo. He trains to fight.

I dunno about training to fight. He probably takes training in how to fall down as safely as possible and how to bleed in as crowd pleasing a way as possible but fight?...........not since his third fight with Ward.

Yep, well Gatti seems to have stepped up his competition and also the size of the guys are bigger than they used to be , so he can go to war with them but his punches do not have the same effect. Also because of them being bigger, he is not backing them up as much so his left hook is not landing as easy with a guy coming forward and making Gatti on the defensive. Although with Floyd, he is not going to land no matter what. Floyd and Oscar were just too good. Baldomir was too strong.

    Totally agree.

Hopkins needs a trainer like he needs a Summer's Eve Strawberry Scented Douche.
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!

I agree with that. Hopkins has been in the game so long and learned so much that there isnt all that much a trainer can add to his game. Hopkins knows what to do.

Hopkins choosing Roach over every other trainer is a testament to Freddy's abilities as a trainer imo.
